Ignore the crap about 'not being secure'.
The site was put up years ago and I need to purchase a security cert and
redo the whole site in htttps . What a PIA.
There's no active content, it is safe.
BTW- I had to stop using my sunroof. But I have bigger issues, the supercharger and alternator need replacing as well as some pulleys and the wife
turned the garage into a storage unit making it impossible to perform vehicle repairs. Arrgh!
This post seems very old, but I read it all through, looked at all the PDF manuals, all was very helpful, but I haven't found answer to my question. So, the back story.. I have my C180 (2004) coupe a year now and first, when I tried to fully open sunroof, it got this grinding sound and some plastic piece fall from roof and after that I couldn't close it. So far nothing new, mostly the biggest problem with sunroof is motor. Probably mine is dead too. But, I took my car to service as I didn't know a thing about sliding roofs, to close it and take a look, what is the problem. So service guy sending this picture of railing guide...
Inner supports has broken plastic brackets. I have looked all over the internet to find this part, but no luck. And I couldn't find anyone solve this problem, only by changing all the guide.. But again, as much as I was looking for all the guide with good inner support, no luck. In junk yard all of the inner supports are with broken plastic too... I do 3D modeling and 3D printing stuff, it would not be a problem for me to print it out too, but I don't have any example of how it should look like...
So my question is, how much this plastic bracket effects sunroof work? Maybe I am too worried about this stuff, instead I just could change motor and grease everything really good? Will this be enough or still I need to replace all the guide? Or maybe can help out with just those inner supports?

They are broken from age and heat and the stress of the roof traveling without the rails being greased regularly.
You could try greasing the rails and repair/reinforcing the motor.
The motor gears are available on ebay now.
All the problems with these roofs are from lack of maintenance and the stress of moving that huge piece of hot glass.

I can give you his expert contacts, if you wish. He is really good at it and can help you to fix your roof.

Keep up the good work guys!
3D printing these parts is going to be the only way to keep these sunroof's working into the future.

Also where needs to be this black metal part on the right, when glass is mounted?

Then shuffle the roof to get it straight or in sync as best as you can and remount the motor and try it.
That black arm has to travel through the plastic.
Are the factory instructions still showing up on this thread?
Roof still not working perfectly, shade works fine.
But I still have issue where is whole glass shifted to the back of the car and wind deflector is loose. How to align glass properly? Also I don't know what is part 7 in the manual for glass installation(Sheet metal lug), maybe there is problem with glass shifted to back of the car.
Thank you all guys for your support.
The problem was with the arm that retracted and it was getting stuck. It took some time to work out that the housing of the arm, which is plastic, was slightly cracked and therefore not having enough pressure to push the arm into the track. My solution was to file down the insert which travels along the guide rail so the housing didn't have to do all the work
Once I filed this, it stopped catching in the track and it then was able to retract all the way. I did find heaps of broken plastics, but this was stopping the sunroof moving past this point. Hope it will help someone out.
