They are real wood matched veneers over an aluminium substrate for some parts. No plastic!
I love Black birds-eye maple & Eucalyptus.

Really? Hmm, that makes me feel a little better about the price then. Should I be able to tell by looking at them when I get them that they're real?

I so wish the Bird's Eye Maple was available for the pre-2005 dash. Although the patterned aluminum is nice in the Coupe, I really think that would look great.

Not sure, he said something about October 7th and then said one part said the 17th. Hopefully it won't actually take that long. I think it's the console pieces that are the problem though, he said it looked like all the door pieces were in.

Yep - the console pieces are veneered laminated wood with aluminium substrate - a bit different to our Japanese friends. Probably take longer to churn out.

Very cool, I hope they're not made to order! I've been thinking about having them just go ahead and send on the pieces they have so I can check them out.

Just wanted you to see that they are the real thing. Sometimes people don't realise the quality/complexity that Benz build into their cars even at the bottom end. Might make you a little happier with the price tag.

Yeah, I definately didn't realize all of it was real. I never would have guessed by looking at the trim in the luxury models that it was real, the color and texture of that trim I just don't like either.

Definitely hope to see this in person when we meet up.
I normally don't like wood in cars either, but when I saw the black birds eye maple I absolutely fell in love with it. The color and detail of it is absolutely amazing. Beautiful, yet sport, yet rare all at once.
And yes it is real, and yes it's scary as F when you're taking apart the center console and hoping you don't crack it while you're tugging on the clips.

Everything showed up in one piece thank goodness! I got the center console pieces installed and got the rear doors done, so I'm going to do the front doors tomorrow and I'll post up some better pictures then. I'm really liking the look of this, the coating on the wood actually gives it a very nice deep look and doesn't make it look fake at all (like the luxury sedan wood). Here's a teaser:

Looks great man, I definitely gotta see this in person. Hey by the way, when did you put in the digital climate control?
