How to clean the residue/glue from window tint film?

Hi,

I just bought a '04 C320 4Matic. Previous owner had a rear glass window film/tint. I carefully removed the film. Now, there is a thin layer of glue/residue on the glass. Bear in mind there are window defrosting lines along the window, how do I get rid of this residue/glue without damaging the defrost lines?

Thanks in advance for your feedback...

Alcohol will not damage defrosting lines and will most probably disolve that glue

Goof off is really strong, I don't know if I would put that on my windows. It takes the paint off of plastics.

you can also use windex. The ammonia disolves the glue. thats what the tint guys use to remove the tint as well. At least thats what they tell me not to use windex on tinted windows. Might be worth a shot.

It is always recommended to try a certain area to see if it works or not. I used it to remove some sticker that refuses to come off. I used goof off and it just comes right off. Of coures this is for windows only and not any painted surfaces.

As suggested by Glyn and Ontmiss, I bought rubbing alcohol bottle at Walgreens and cleaned that glue. It took almost an hour... the glue had really hardened, but it came off eventually. Thanks guys !!
