wow..nice tip, how did you pop them off?
I think it looks good if trims are all CF in the car. will look funny though if it is only on the wheel I think.
I hate the scratchy plastic too..

Do you want to do a DIY write-up on this? I'd love to do something like this because I hate those things!

Nice one! I've never held/used CF material, can it be heated to form better around curves edges etc.?

Yes, it's pretty easy to work with. Though I did my door handles, and it took a couple of times to get it right; if you heat it or pull it too much, it will deform. It's very cheap, though, and comes off very easily if you screw up. Just make sure to order much more than you need so you have extra for screw-ups.

It's real imitation CF.

If you look, you can see where the wrap went around the pieces on the pre-install pic.

That is something I would do.
How'd you pop off those things?
Check out my thread for other CF vinyl mods and tips on how to wrap stuff.

Correct...it's vinyl (3M Dinoc)

The multifuction buttons stick to the airbag.
So, you need to take the airbag off first with T-30 TORX screwdriver (2 access holes on the back of the steering wheel)

The multifunction buttons assembly is held by 3 screws...I believe it's T-20 or T-25 (already forgot)
So, just take that out and unplug the connector on the back.

Now, just take T-8 screwdriver and separate the assembly in 3 pieces...be careful though!
Make sure you pull it straight up, so you don't break the switches. And, always do it with the switches face down, so the guts don't spread in tiny pieces.

Then, just wrap it with the vinyl and get all bubbles off with heat gun...and install in reverse order.

ENJOY!!!

Off topic: You guys know the part number and where to get the "glass" cover for the instrument gauge? I have spots and scratches on mine and I want to replace that too when I get this overlay from ebay.

Hey man I tried doing this and couldnt get the connector on the back of the the button assembly.. I didnt want to put on it too hard because I might break something.. Did you remove the airbag from the steering wheel completely, I tried to do it with the airbag still plugged in. Any pointers?
