CD Player not switching off
My friends 2001 C200K has a recurring problem.
His CD player doesn't switch off. This happened about 6 months ago and he replaced the CD player with another OEM part, and now it has the same problem.
It won't switch off with ignition off, neither when the power button is pressed. He had to pull the fuse out.
Why does this keep happening?
Is it a common problem?
Is the only solution a new CD player?
Thanks

Well, it was working fine before all this happened.
And anyway, pressing the power button on the radio doesn't turn it off, which even with the car running it should do so

Can we just clarify - Are we talking about the OE Audio 10 radio with built in CD player that won't turn off? Or is it an Audio 10 that takes 1 CD but has a 6 CD changer in the glove box & the changer won't turn off from the radio on/off switch or the ignition accessory position?

It is the standard radio which takes the the one CD. There is no CD stacker attached to it.
It basically does not switch off. Not when the key is off, and not when the Power button is pressed either
