What do you mean? Everything I have read in WIS or otherwise say to keep the Smartkey 5 feet away from the EIS when you do work like "this". Whenever I am working with the w203's electronics I don't even brig the keys into the shop (once the cars is situated) and I have never had a problem...Where did you read that the Smartkey is supposed to be in the EIS when working on the I.P.?

when i first bought the car i was getting over 30 on the highway...but since I've add the rims and 2 10" subs and 2 amps in the back which I'm hoping is what is draggin my mpg down...now I get about 28 at the best on the highway and usually 25-26 for my city driving...

many factors affect the mileage - driving style (steady acceleration/jack rabbit), air pressure in the tires, air filter, spark plugs, electrical accessories, type of fuel used, etc.

On my '07 C280, I get 25 to 26 in city and around 29+ on highway with cruise - moderate driving style.
On my '04 C320, I get 23 to 24 in city and around 28+ on highway - moderate driving style.

nothing diy...it takes 15 minutes man...it'll cost you form the dealer like 200...i did it myself by simply going to auto parts store buying a spark plug socket, 6" extender, socket wrench and bought plugs off amazon...altogether cost me like $50

depending on the type of the engine (4 cylinders with 4 spark plugs, 6 cylinders with 6 plugs, 6 cylinders with 12 plugs) it can take about 1 to 2 hours max.

Independent mechanics charge about $60 to $80 per hour. So calculate...

Spark plug change is one of the easiest thing to do on our cars. You just need to be careful not to misthread or overtighten the spark plugs. Please search the forum, you will find several threads with pictures.

According to MB service manual, fuel filter should be changed every 60K miles.
So, at 59K miles, you are due for fuel filter change. Look on line, Bosch fuel filter on AutohausAZ dot com for around $35. It's not that difficult to change (remove 4 hose clamps, remove old filter, attach 4 hoses to the new filter, put 4 new hose clamps and tighten. That's it.
