WIS documents desperately needed
Could some kind soul please check the WIS for me,
and find any documents related to starter replacement on a
2002 C230 coupe?
It's all but impossible to access and I think the trick is to remove a piece of
the steering column, but I can't figure out how to get it out of the way.
I've got the starter in hand ready to reinstall.
Getting it out, well I did manage to do that, but I unbolted the selenoid 1st
and it took hours of agonizing pain to get the wires unbolted and fished out.
I pulled the fender liner last night in hopes there would be an access panel,
but no.
That leaves pulling the steering column or perhaps the entire intake manifold.
Can someone PLEASE check and see what the proper procedure is,
print them to pdf's and post them here?
I have searched everywhere, and found nothing, including the
W203 service DVD and Alldatadiy.com (worthless!)

I have some good news and bad news. Bad news is in WIS it doesn't show how to remove the starter for the M111. The good news is it does show it for the M271. I have a feeling it is similar. Take a look and I hope it works out. Looks like a Pain in the Butt!!!!

Arrgh. On the m271 they are removing the supercharger muffler, but on mine it's the intake manifold and all the associated crap just to get to the wires.
Then there's the steering coupler.
"Pull out bolt (2) and steering coupling (3)
from steering shaft. "
Great, HOW do I remove the coupler?
"Bolt, steering coupling to steering shaft *BA46.10-P-1001-01E
Self-locking nut, steering coupling to *BA46.10-P-1002-01E
rack-and-pinion steering"
I'd really like to see what in those side notes if possible.
Could you possibly see whats involved with pulling the intake on the M111?
If by some miracle you post by tomorrow am or early afternoon, I could still make it to the stealer to pick up any gaskets I might need.
Thanks again.
This a good 'start' eh heh heh, a little DIY humor.

Sure, let me get that for you now.
Any side notes with BA is the torque. End of document. Only AR shows you additional documents.

Just a thought from my Alfa days. If you drop the rear transmission mounting baby cross member & let the whole engine/transmission tilt back would it improve access? I used to do that on my Alfas with a short bottle jack. Did not want to cut holes in the tunnel as many did. Only problem is then you have to disconnect the shift linkage.

Thanks Karo for helping out Todd.
Today is my last day at my current employer, and I had to give back the laptop they gave me so I lost my STAR/WIS/EPC system, though only temporary. I just purchased the same exact laptop on Ebay yesterday. I have the drive from the laptop and will plop that in the new one.

Acronis True Image Enterprise with Universal Restore (great for bare bones recovery - can skip drivers). You already know what I'm going to say

So I'm assuming the w202 WIS document didn't help? It's the same engine so the Starter should be in the same location?

Dammit, I started to remove the intake manifold, what a freakin' nightmare. I think it's going to be sitting for a while.

Karo is that link below the CD, it seems pretty logical to invest in one of these.
