Angry Trans dipstick/id10t issue

I am having a problem getting the fluid level correct... When the trans temp is both cold and hot, the level is always at the top of the plastic scale. I only replaced the fluid I removed while flushing so I'm not sure how the level is so high. With only 300ml of fluid remaining, I'm hesitant to start draining it. Shift quality appears to be as good or better than it did before the flush.

After a pan drop and filter change, I flushed via the top cooling line that connects to the radiator.

Are you checking the level with the motor running (had to ask).

Hi. How "hot" are you getting the ATF? And does your dipstick have both levels for cold or hot? I recently did my C32 flush and had no problems with getting the level correct. When cold it would read on the "cold" level and after a HARD drive, it would read at the "hot" level.

Yes it has both levels. Cold is running for 3min, and hot is driving for 20 min.

After a 20 min drive is hot enough. You should be fine if the level is correct after that kind of drive. What brand ATF did you use? (curious)

The level is not correct... It is over the plastic scale when hot, and cold. I used Fuch Titan 4134

It would seem its ATF level is too high, yes?

Note there is but ~3/4 liter difference between the dipstick’s 25° and 80° Celsius markings, irrespective of actual ATF temperature.
Also, the 722.6’s level is properly ascertained while it’s engaged in gear.

In my admittedly limited experience, it requires far longer for the transmission to achieve stabilized/normal operating temperatures -than that of the engine’s coolant and sump oil- notwithstanding our radiator’s integral liquid-to-liquid heat exchanger.

If after your 20 min drive and your current level is reading over the correct level, I would start draining. I don't know what would cause the level to read higher than before you flushed, considering you replaced the exact amount of ATF that came out. I have heard of techs inserting the dipstick tool too hard and causing the reading to appear higher than usual.

Oh! it's touchy alright. That's why it is critical to take it's temperature. I have found an IR gun on the sump pan to be good enough as has Johnand with the 722.9.

I had this same issue. Mine showing overfull. I'm just doing something wrong apparently since mine hasn't been touched except by the dealership.
