no warranty on allignment?

i finally got my car back. its been in service since friday! they only had one guy that did front allignment but its alas, its finally finished. but it cost me $200! im suprised that allignment wasnt covered by warranty. ive only had my car for about 5 months!! and then all of a sudden it was tredding retarded (more so on the left than the right) and i had to replace the driver side tire. tire pressure was fine whenever i checked it also. i think i should write to the corporate offices or something.

How many miles do you have? They did mine for free, but I had a problem from day 1.

I got my alignment done for $260 at Flecher Jones, Newport beach.
The service advisor told me it is suppose to be free but because of my 19" wheels they need special machine to do the work.

Wow, $260 for an alignment? Even if you go to a tire shop around here, it's only about $50.

I'm no expert on alignment, but they attach the equipment to the wheels using those five holes in between your lug bolts. So I don't see why they would need any different equipment for 19's.

No, the equipment on the most commonly used wheel alignment rigs [Hunter] attaches to the wheel flange, so it has to be adjusted to the wheel diameter. It's possible not every dealer can easily accomodate a 19" wheel, though these are getting to be less unusual as time goes on.

In any case, inside of the first year or 12k miles, any dealer should be happy to do a wheel alignment ON AN UNMODIFIED CAR at no charge. With mods, or outside of that first year, you're on your own...some dealers will do it, some won't.

Yes, dealer did an alignment for me even over the 12,000 mile alignment warranty (about 13,000 miles) and I have aftermarket 18's.

Wheel Alignment and Balance...

is cover under MBUSA for 1 yr/12,000miles. I am quoting from 2003 Serv and Warranty Booklet. Emission is 7yr/70k miles for Californa law and 8yr/80k miles for Federal law.
