Driver door armrest

Hi everyone,

06 C230 Sport: The armrest on the drivers door that is right next to the grab handle assembly... The material is peeling from the inner plastic mold. Want to remove, inspect, and maybe replace. I have the grab handle off with T20 bits, but are there any other tricks I need to know before going any further to yank the rest of the armrest off? Trying to not break anything, or affect anything of the SRS in the door panel..

Thanks!

I think the armrest is part of the door inside panel. You may have to buy the entire panel...

anyone have the part number of the driver door arm pad? if not i guess i'll see it labeled when i take it off..

took the door panel off to see that the arm pad is glued onto the inner door panel so it does indeed look like it will be hard to find separate. that is super annoying. inner door panel has a part number, but didn't see one on the pad itself.

still if someone happens to know a way to reference this driver door arm pad with a part number, please help me out.

thanks again

That makes for the both of us

Although mine is gray and it's not gray anymore. It's also gooey and sticky at times. Seems more of a problem when it's either humid or some moister in the air.

I haven't came to a point where I would replace it, but it's getting there.

You're lucky its come off at the seam, you should be able to fix this, or even get an upolsterer to fix it for you, would be a lot less than buying a whole panel.

plan as of now is to A) talk to the dealer about it.. B) talk to some fabric specialists i know to see what they have to say. my main concern is using the proper adhesive so i want to find out what that adhesive is before i try anything... even though this is annoying the hell out of me and i want it fixed asap.

still can't believe this happened. it's not like it was tugged on.. no car company is perfect, but i didn't expect this out of a mercedes. not a huge deal though. just sucks it can't be bought separately.

i'll update when i fix.

did you ever get it fixed or did you have to replace the entire door panel? Mine is doing the same thing and I tried some adhesive just to see if it would work, lasted about 5 minutes in the hot muggy weather down here.

Thanks,
Andrew

you should try some automotive epoxy for interior or upholstery spray glue.

I tried the 3M spray glue. Hard part is I am trying to do it the the door panel still on the car. Is there a way to take the arm rest off the panel or is it all one piece? If I could get the arm rest separated I would be able to get it fixed.

For a seam pull like that, I would certainly look into some serious 3M glue - and then use a few soft nor marring tools to push it back in, taping off and protecting the surrounding surfaces before doing so.

Honestly, taking the door skin off isn’t a big deal. Just roll the window down first and get a set of nor marring plastic interior trim removal tools. Maybe have a few spare OEM perimeter press clips at the ready.

If you pull off the panel, I’m sure you can drill/cut the pad out - but even WIS doesn’t show that…I’m including some detail shots of the set up - it’s a pretty overlapping and sandwiched process…

My pad cracked within a few years of delivery -and was replaced under warranty.

I’d call some local junkyards on a new interior panel - transfer over what you need to from your panel…
