Some OEM nav unit help please...
I've read thru the dizzying sticky thread and came up still confused for my 2003. Presently, I have the low end casette unit w/CD changer in the glovebox. I really want navigation, was going to go with an aftermarket unit but keep reading about little quirks/problems with them, so am thinking again about just going OEM. That said, I'm looking at some different units: an A203 827 48 42 80, which has the 'SAT (satellite radio?) button in the lower left hand corner, and an A203 827 31 42 80 (also A203 827 53 42 80) that has a blank button in that location.
Will any of these units work in my '03?
Are these 'plug n play', or will I need some dealer coding to get everything working (like steering wheel functions/displays)? I realize I'll need the GPS antenna.
Do either of these (or another OEM unit) have an aux input?
Will I be able to retain my CD changer?
What about the navigations CD/DVD's? Will I be able to find current ones (maybe cheaply on EBay)?
Anything else I should be considering?

No SAT right now, but I'd like to be able to add in the future (I'm assuming that's what the SAT button is for?). Got your PM - I'll get back to you...

This link has a writeup that should answer most of your questions doing this. It includes a listing of the various Comand Part numbers and when they were used, along with essentially a step by step guide.

Again, thanks for the link above MW ATL, it'll definitely help with the install, but I didn't see the unit with satellite option (A203 827 48 42 80) listed. Can anyone else help me with this???

That appears to be the same unit used in the install that is documented in the PDF below. He puts the part number on the second or third page. An '04 unit with the SAT button. Double check it as I just had time to glance at it this afternoon.
Your question about the CD's from earlier: The updated sets come out at the end of every February, and should be in dealer stock by about mid-March. Somewhere around 250.00 to 275.00 for the full set plus the leather case, depending on what kind of deal your dealer gives you. You can also buy them individually on eBay, but they are usually a few years older.
