What new car is closest to the coupe?

Well being around many Honda's myself I also said that it was only a matter of time before a Tuning shop with a green resource known as MONEY rips out the hybrid and throws 100's of hours of R&D at it and swaps a k20.. Or forced induction to the hybrid.

Spoon's already thrown in a ton of money and gotten the Z to a semi-respectable power output range. Not worth the total outlay, though.
There's still hope that an Si will be out in the future.

Its already been done for the original 2dr Insight. $19k for the swap + the donor car. I was seriously contemplating it a month back...found a donor car for $5k locally even.

handling is excellent. dare I say if they put a K20 in it the MPG wouldn't suffer much and it would be quick. Such is the marketing ploy known as hybrids.
<---former owner of '91 CRX SI who anxiously awaited the replacement. My buddy bought a CR-Z CVT for a commuter (hybrids get special plates here that allow you to use HOV lanes) so I've had some time behind the wheel. There's NOTHING wrong with this car that 100hp and wider rubber can't fix.

What's sad is that there's nothing available in the US that's rwd, hatch, and 2 doors. I hope the toyota/subuaru ft86 project comes out with a hatch.
As far as the w204 coupe, that doesn't look like it's coming to the US, right?

What makes the c-coupe great for me was that it was the only benz you could get in the US with cloth seats. I like that a lot of the stuff in my car is pretty conventional. I have the pano roof though (not really my first choice), and that novelty wore off after the first year of ownership.

Yes, the current Si is available as a hatch with a weird pair of exhaust pipe triangles. Top Gear did a comparison to the prior version, and found that superior.
Well, if I had a nickel for everyone who regretted selling their crx I'd retire. Though as a downpayment on a Mini sounds like a good use of one.

C230 Sport Coup + 2006 W164 ML350 + 99 Ford Escort (What the heck, it gets 38 mpg!)
Volvo C30 aka Ford Focus. Not as nice as a C Coupe but Ford Based so possibly less expensive to maintain.

No hatch. NO THANK YOU.
Please tell me why anyone should get the new c coupe over a genesis, mustang, or 1 series?

Because you value the 3-pt star and/or want some status. I'm not saying it's smart, but it is what alot of MB buyers find important. Also, I guess you could argue on safety, though the C30 is probably at least as safe.
Me, I'd prefer an actual hatch. Abarth at the end of 2011, baby!

Just registered on fiat500owners.com, so I'll be watching things closely for the next year. I just can't imagine my car lasting more than another year or two without some kind of necessary repair that I'd walk away from. I'd be more than happy to be proved wrong, though.
mlg - there's a HUGE rwd bias here, so that's probably the reason why those haven't been mentioned (and I guess also the anti-Japan bias here as well).
If I were to rationally think about this question, the WRX 5-door would probably be the best replacement, especially with the snow we've had here the past couple of years - I'm sure it's a gizz fest to drive, but it's pretty boring both inside and out to look at, which even at my age, is still important.

ok, Tommy, i agree that RWD is a more entertaining platform,so how bout a used 350z,used g35coupe, or used late modelhyundai tiburon gt- comes w 2.7 l v6 and man tran i think and a kik *** stereo w subwoffer in hatch area, have u driven a mustang gt stick lately??? its a hoot w plenty of power.

+1 I like the v6 with the 6 speed auto. Drives great sounds great nice stereo. My problem is that i don't think it will last. That is my issue with the g35 they seem to feel junky after 5 years. I guess i am just spoiled that i got a mercedes so early in life. I never had that car that had windows through the floor boards and broke down every other day. I did have some old cars but those were what i drove around the far way before i got my license. had a brown 83 or so vanagon diesel that i once got on two wheels
