What new car is closest to the coupe?
Haven't posted here in a while and I'm wondering: what new car available today is the most direct replacement for the coupe. AFAIK, I can't think of any 2-door rwd hatches available in the US. The 1 series hatch would be perfect.
I think what comes closest are the genesis coupe and the 1 series.

I would say that the closest by far is the Volvo C30; two-door, true hatch, semi-sporty like the coupey. CTS-V is too expensive (and too powerful) to be seen as a comparable car. Mini S is reasonably similar as well.
Other cars that will be coming here would be the Alfa MiTo, the Fiat 500 Abarth, and of course, the new coupe, when the facelift gets here for the W204 (though I'm sure that it will continue with the girly theme and limited manny transmission of the current 204). There is a chance that we get the facelifted 1 hatch, but I'll believe that when I see it.

sorry, but the E92 is a coupe. not a hatchback. The E36 and E46 "Ti" was the hatchback and competitor for the C-hatch which was not brought back in the market when the 1-series was the better seller.
VW Scirocco, Golf/GTi, Ford Focus (euro, not the US junk), A3, Renault Megane, 1-series, Volvo C30, Peugeot 308, Vauxhall Astra, Mazdaspeed3...these are the ones that i can remember off the top of my head.
edit: the W204 coupe is actually going to be a coupe. not a hatchback.

just wait until a bit. The rumor is there's suppose to be a c-class coupe with the next coming refresh and possible a AMG c-class coupe to better compete against the m3.

Rumor also has it that they are going to put a turbo in the coupe to compete with the 135i 
. Turbos are slowly becoming popular...even infinity created the G25 Turbo (specs look nothing special but seems very economical)

are you talking about putting turbo's in a c class below a 63? well they're gonna put a 5.5 TT setup in it if anything. 517hp is more than enough

there moving to turbos because of emissions. A smaller displacement engine with a turbo will make less emissions then a higher displacement NA with the same hp. But yeah i heard the same rumors that the v6 will be turboed too with a possibilty of a i4 turbo option for the US.
Given how gas prices went back down I think the i4 turbo is dead.

I actually got to test drive the Honda CR-Z on July 10th,... about 6 weeks before it hit the Canadian market (and 2 months before it got to US dealers).
The Honda CR-Z is a nice little car. Under-powered,... probably always have it in sport mode to get that extra zip. But after being used to all the creature comforts of a Mercedes like pano-glass roof and heated leather seats,... why downgrade?

handling is excellent. dare I say if they put a K20 in it the MPG wouldn't suffer much and it would be quick. Such is the marketing ploy known as hybrids.

Should have just kept the crx then and went FI or swap in a K20; there will never be a comparable replacement to the crx, which is why I still have mine.
