What pulley would you get for your C230?

I've seen lots of pulley choices from a high of $1,700 down to $899. And there's always new choices coming up as well as making my own. If you are considering a pulley, which one would you get?

I didn't give up. I just want to see if people are hung up on brand names and would rather pay a huge premium or are there enough people that would buy a pulley from someone other than a German tuner. ASP Eaton supercharger pulleys sell for under $100 (list price). One difference is the German tuners all use larger crankshaft pulleys and the ASP, Dynosport and Benzy230 (made his own) use a smaller supercharger pulley. Kleemann told me that one reason they don't change the supercharger pulley is that it's pressed on the shaft. Dynosport has to cut the old pulley off from what I understand. Kleemann said the alternator pulley is the toughest part of their install because you have to remove and re-install the alternator. What's holding me up now is taking measurements of the stock pullies for ASP.

If anyone lives near ASP in Texas and can bring their C230 in, it would speed things up.

Hey in the spirit of fairness the Renntech pulley is priced 1495 with out the ITG filter and 1694 with the air filter. The kit also includes the idler pulley and the belt, as well as the crankshaft pulley.

I don't think that the only reason the German tuners use the crankshaft pulley is the it makes a more expensive kit. There are some fundamental differences. The supercharger pulley is all ready small by making it small enough to match the changes to crankshaft pulley you will drastically reduce the pulley face . This can lead to slippage, higher belt wear.

Randy, Kleemann changes the alterator pulley to slow it back to the same rpm's as an ummodded car. Has Renntech noticed any alterator failures at the higher rpm's produced by their kit?

Thumbs up Kleemann

Heard a lot of good things about Kleemann. Evosport claims they are good at what they do. I would go with Kleemann myself.

They have been making this kit in one form or another for several years and have not had any problems with alternator failure. When the battery is fully charged the alternator is almost free wheeling so there is not a large drain on HP.

Installation time and cost should be factored in also. The Renntech Pulley Kit cost less to install labor time is about 1 hr, or 60 dollars (depending on what your shop charges per hr).

If that's true about the alternator pulley not being important then maybe we can get the Kleeman kit for half price since we only need one pulley.
