Oh thanks.. I did drive it around today and so far the shuttering has stopped.. I put about 60 miles on it.. Taking it on a trip tonight about 120 miles one way.. Thanks for all your help.. I do love the car I just don't want to work on it all the time and spend my hard earned money .. Man the picture you have on your profile looks really nice.. I have only been overseas once.. to Norway and Iceland .. loved it there.. Have a great weekend..

laidbackkat,

Can you please summarize what you did to get rid of the problem? thanks, Velero

PS my tranny was rebuilt a year ago(125k miles) and the simptoms appeared again. the aamco shop told me that one of my injectors was not working properly and I should solve that issue first, but reading some post here I think that its not engine related.

Hey Velero, 1 st. I had it looked at by a certified MB mechanic with the star system .. He turned off my Torque converter via a laptop connected to the transmission computer. The shuttering went away.. so we new it was the torque converter. 2nd. fluid was tested for anti freeze contamination.. which I had. so replaced the radiator, flushed the transmission, and put new Mercedes trans fluid in it.. The shuttering was still there but after putting about 60 miles on it's like new.. lol .. I hope I don't think your year car had the Valeo radiator that was bad they used it pre- 2003. I would get someone to run a diagnostic on it with the star system. I got a price upfront for an hour of their time before I just let them spend all day on it.. I didn't take it to the dealer .. mines not very honest.. You should put a post on this site with your symptoms .. The guys on here are very knowledgeably and helpful ... good luck

The first time it was only a matter of days berfore I took it to the MD dealer and then to the aamco shop.. This time around It has been about 400 miles, but today I am going to have the oil change to see what happens. I have an early 2004 which probably has the old radiator.

C230 Sport Coup + 2006 W164 ML350 + 99 Ford Escort (What the heck, it gets 38 mpg!)
Ummmm. I think they'd done away with the old rad by 2004 model year.
Backtrack this thread, and read the factory bulletin.
The offending Valeo radiator was replaced by Valeo with a newer version,
but no one has any problems with the Behr.
You may just need a fluid change.
There is no such thing as a lifetime fill.

No so good news, the ATF is dirty again an dthe dealer is recommending a glycol test with potentionaly having to replace the torque converter and of course the radiator.
