Slow start when cold
05 c240. Recently when outside temperature drops to near freezing temperture cars having a slow start. I put the brand new battery last week then car starts fine but today again when i parked the car for ten hrs outside in cold weather it stalled again when i start. It hangs around 1000 rpm for 20 sec then it barely starts. Any clue?
Only happens when parked for all day in seasonal cold weather around 5 degree celcius.

Get hold of an OBDII scanner & look for stored codes. One thing that can cause what you explain is a bad temperature sender unit or a bad ground on the temp sensor. If the sensor does not send the correct temperature data to the ECU it won't enrich the mixture correctly & the engine will stumble & stall. An air leak in any of the vacuum lines will do the same thing. We need to see if you are storing a lean fuel trim code. When last was the MAF cleaned?

There may be a slow drain on your car. After the car sits for several hours, before attempting to start the car, check the voltage onthe battery.

As of yesterday my car has been starting slowly and cranks for a while to start.. mine is an 05 c230 kompressor with 67k on it.. it only does it when its cold like 40 degrees.. if it warms up like after 25 min of driving and i turn it off to restart it, it cranks and starts fine.. what could this be

Used to live in Edmonton, -45'c got slow start but started. -30 to -10 no slow start problem but engine is loud until it warms up. I have no block heater.
If you park your car outside in a cold weather, recommend good battery (check if your new batt is correct) + good synthetic engine oil and why not installing a block heater too.

I can see why it is easy to be confused, I was looking for a sensor somewhere in the intake path, instead this sensor is on the cooling system. I clued in when I realized the diagram has the thermostat and waterpump.
The sensor is on the passenger side, top, at the front of the engine. If you look above the header you'll find a black tube (130) then follow it to the front.
