Flashing Headlights
This morning before the sun came up I put my key in the ignition in my coupe. I didn't turn it and about 15 seconds later the instrument and outside lights started pulsing. About 1 second apart.
This must be a reminder that the keys are in the ignition.

Went out and tried this in my car and had no flashing at all. Maybe your battery is running low. In this case MB's use to flash in different ways 
. The only example I've seen to this was when I once turned on the heated seats in my friends W124 and the little red diod started to flash to indicate that there were not enough battery power to do so.

The battery is ok, it seems to only happen when the light switch is in the auto position and the door is open and it's dark out.
The headlights pulse off and on till you either start the car or remove the key. I have only been able to duplicate it at night.

I just got the car to do it once, but it wouldn't do it again. After about 20 seconds the lights, including dash lights flashed once, and the MFD went out. After about 2 seconds the MFD came on and the light started flashing but stopped of after maybe ten flashes. I didn't think to count them. The headlights did not flash, just the turn signals and maybe the parking lamps. Repeated attempts resulted in the MFD going out and staying out.
After giving a rest of several minutes, it did it again. The sidemarker and parking lights (front and rear) flash six times after the MFD reappears.
