2002 C230K Coupe - 18" wheel upgrade

Has anybody fitted 18" alloys to their C-Class coupe. I have a 2002 C230 Kompressor curently fitted with Mercedes 17" (8.0 rimms) alloys and 225/45/17 tyres.

Whilst my new AMG style 18" wheels have larger 8.5 rimms I'm looking at fitting 225/40/18 tyres to match the curent items as close as possible. Is this a good idea or could I go for wider tyres for example 245/40/18 (front) and 255/40/18 (rear) as I've seen done on some E-class cars. The wider rimms will take these sizes and more but I'm concerned they will either rub or stick out too far.

Any advice is much appreaciated cheers

No,... you're the only one in this whole wide world who ever considered putting 18" on a CL203. You know, we do have a aftermarket wheel thread,...

What's the offset on these "new AMG style" wheels? Authentic AMG 18x8.5 rims have offset of ET30,... so I'll assume the offset on these AMG "style" rims are also 30ET,.... otherwise they wouldn't be a very good copy of the originals.

For 18x8.5, your front with 225/40R18 should be fine if offset is ET30.
For 18x8.5, your rear with 255/35R18 should be fine if offset is ET30.
Of course, 225/40R18 and 245/35R18 would also be fine on the rear without rubbing.

NOTE: going with your 255/40/18 in the rear will not work, and will throw your speedometer and odometer off.

Make sure your original lug bolts still fit perfectly on these AMG "style" rims,... especially R12 ball seat and shank length otherwise you'll need new lug bolts,... most likely custom.

Mercedes C-class (W203) uses bolt sizes for OEM alloy wheels:
M12x1.5 thread, R12 ball seat, 39.9 mm shank, 17 mm Hex (for OEM alloy wheels)

Sunny, thanks for pointing out the aftermarket wheel thread to me. As a newbie, I'm surely intituled to one small mistake? I will put your response down to American enthusiasm

Anyway thank you for the information it is much appreciated. I was just going to change the tyres to 225/40/R18 all round but looking at the wheel specification the offset is 35 Is this a major problem? Again any help is much appreciated.

Sunny, I also am thinking of doing the same thing to my 2002 Mercedes c230 Kompressor Coupe. My wheels are 18" AMG style staggered wheels. The specs are:
Size: 18x8.5 Front / 18x9.5 Rear
Bolt Pattern: 5x112
Offset: 35 Front / 35 Rear
Hubcentric: 66.6
Like UKDucatiman, my only concern is the offset being 35. Will that be a problem? Thanks.

I drive a Toyota Hybrid...
iono about offset, but in my sig i have a 235/35/19 front and 265/30/19 on rear, i even slam the car on lowest setting on bilstein PSS9 coilover they rub when u hit a big bump but turning and driving are fine...

i down grade to 225/40/18 all around because i couldn't afford tire money so now the car drives normal and handle like a dream

Awesome, thanks Kirax, nice ride. I think I'm gonna try the 225/40/18 in the front and 255/35/18 in the back. You got some pretty low profile tires there. I hope it'll work out fine.

I ran the same tire sizes you are mentioning on my 18" Work VS-XX's and it worked just fine

Your rear should be fine. Front offset should be 30 instead of 35

FRONT:
18x8.5
Offset: 30
225/40R18

REAR:
18x9.5
Offset: 35
255/35R18

Hey guys, is there a way for some wheels which are 5x114.3 bolt pattern to fit on a car that has 5x112 bolt pattern?

Sure, they can be redrilled, but on the whole, I wouldn't recommend it - it weakens the rim overall.

So I ordered my tires. They are 225/40R18 (front), and 255/35R18 (rear).

I found a great deal on some wheels. Will these fit the tires I have? Will I need to buy wheel spacers? Thanks.

Size: 18x8 Front / 18x8.5 Rear
Bolt Pattern: 5x112
Offset: +33 Front / +35 Rear
Hubcentric: 66.6
