You can always get a regular interstate battery since optima batteries are made by interstate.

There's not much on bosch car batteries. Going off consumer reviews NAPA batteries are excellent, the 84 series is considered one of the best batteries around, also DieHard batteries from Sears is rated high as well, and so is Everstart from Walmart, they are produced by Johnson controls which is one of the main battery manf. here in the states.

I personally like Interstate, and if I decided to shell out the money, I'd get an Odyssey battery, which I had on my other car.

I priced the Napa battery that is the same size as the OEM and it was almost the same price at the time, so I just decided to get the Mercedes battery.

When choosing/comparing batteries, AmpereHour (Ah) rating of the battery is THE single most important thing to look for.

For our cars, 100 Ah is the correct rating. Go with a reputed brand of battery with 100 Ah rating; you are good to go. MB batteries are excellent. On all my cars, MB batteries lasted more than 7 years. You just can't beat that.

Regardless of the age of the battery, when a battery is drained below 50% of it's capacity (by leaving lights/stereo on), the life expectancy of the battery is severely diminished. As long as we don't let the battery drain, MB batteries last for 7+ years.

Thanks! did that today. $150 + tax came out to $167 total. Only problem is that he showed up a 6:30am instead of 8:30 . Oh well, hopefully the battery will last another 8 years.

Thanks for great info on site.

My 2005 C230 Kompressor Sports battery needs replacing.

After much searching found Glyn's other post at:

https://mbworld.org/forums/c-class-w...#ixzz3W4WYblCL

The original / current battery (part 10 A 003 541 73 01 = BATTERY 12V 74AH 680 CCA L 278 x W 178 x H 18 mm) has been replaced with (part 10 A 005 541 10 01 = AGM BATTERY 95 Ah 850 CCA)

There is a Varta AGM G14 (95 Ah 850 CCA) available in Aust. with exactly these same specifications as the replacement part referred to in Glyn's post in the link above.
Also it appears to be correct size L 353 x W 175 x H 190 mm.

Has the 95 Ah battery since been upgraded again to 100 Ah (as several posts all refer to 100 Ah) ?

The only AGM battery near that capacity (100 Ah) appears to be too large for my car = L of 393 mm (Varta H15 105 Ah 905 CCA),

Or non- AGM type (Varta Silver H3 100 Ah 830 CCA @ L 353 mm).

If I want to go with OEM is the Varta G14 the right one (95 Ah) and the right size ?

Looking to replace soon would appreciate some help please.

2003 C240 4Matic Wagon
AutoZone Duralast Platinum Battery

Other members will probably shame me for this, but when my last battery died on my 2003 C240 Wagon it put me in a tight spot. I needed an immediate fix. I grabbed the old core and hitched a ride to the corner AutoZone. Low and behold they had a suitable replacement in stock... a Duralast Platinum (H8-AGM):

http://www.autozone.com/batteries-st...?checkfit=true

It is advertised at 975 cranking amps (850 cold) and comes with a three year warranty. $175. Fits perfectly. Definitely not the most cost effective solution or necessarily the best, but very convenient. I have not had any issues with this battery and had a good experiences with one I installed on my previous BMW. If you find yourself in a pinch this battery will work nicely.

Keep'em Rolling,
zpbarnett
