can't jumpstart. battery problem?
My car will not start. The instrument panel lighting and messages all looked very faint. Electronics did not work. I couldn't even open the trunk. So I assumed that it was a dead battery. The battery is original (5yrs old).
I tried jump starting and all the electronics started to come to life very very gradually, but the car would not start. I let it charge while idling and even reving the donor vehicle for 4-5 mins. I then checked the electronics (sunroof, radio, windows) and it was working. As soon as I attempted to start the engine everything went faint to no electrical power.
I thought that if it was a dead battery, the car is supposed to start. Can anybody help me diagnose this problem?

Are you following the owner's manual instructions step by step? It is very critical. Do not be reckless with these cars - they have sensitive electronics.

did it get cold where you are?
the first good cold snap will kill a weak battery
pull the battery follwing the instructions so you dont ruin anything
get it tested if its bad buy a OEM one
OR if your in usa call roadside assist........ should be free but ask to be sure you would have to pay for the battery through
