2001 headlights flicker/dimming

I searched and found mostly HID flickering, Xenon faults, etc.

I have the old original 2001 OEM regular headlights. I notice at a stoplight that my lights go dim and go bright again almost instantly. It happens quite regularly but the lights are working. I don't even know if my car is flickering at people while I am driving. Anyone experience this problem? Help please. Thanks.

ok so you have the stock halogen lights correct. If they are flickering that is odd i would change the low beam bulbs and check all connections for being loose and corrosion also make sure it is not you being crazy get a friend to verify what you see. The other thing is that if it is just dimming is there a load on the car changing it could just me a window or something that will dim the headlights.

Dim-bright-dim-bright-dim? That sounds like a charging system problem. Have the alternator and battery tested.

No HIDS installed and your lights are doing this? Check your connections.. Whens the last time you replaced the bulbs.. ( Buy HIDS then )

Thanks all. I will check the connections. I am not sure when the bulbs were changed last. I have only had the car for a few months. Seems to be both lights so I would think it is unlikely both bulbs are dying at the same time.

Will also get the battery checked. Not sure how to check an alternator. Will have to get that done if the battery/connectors are not the culprit. thanks for the suggestions all.

put it in dyno mode and it will give you voltage readings or bring it to autozone and have them test your alternator.
