things to do when warranty is close to expire?
just wondering what things to do, things to watch out for - not necessarily to intentionally "break" things but just to be on the safe side before warranty expires.. since the car is still under warranty, would the dealership agree on a inspection like a pre-purchase inspection? or is this even necessary?

Doubt the dealership would agree on a full inspection of the car prior to the existing warranty running out without you having to pay something. Maybe if you have a friendly SA, but even then that's pretty much a stretch.
Mine's about to run out in a few weeks so I took it in to fix the suspension bushings and to check the rest of the suspension out. Definitely look into an extended warranty for some piece of mind, though.

luckily my dealership guy was cool and did a full inspectin before my warranty went out for free. But usually they'll charge around 60-70 to do an inspection on a vehicle, then they'll tell you if anything is wrong and if warranty covers it.

Our dealers will do a full inspection FOC before the warranty runs out.
Check front castor bushes & watch out for cam magnets on the M272. Also make sure you have no timing chain rattle. Presume she's auto. Make sure the 722.9 7G is behaving properly. Some cars had bad speed sensors & the valve body required replacement - There is also a new "optimised" read Improved sump pan for the tranny & new spill tube. If all is well then leave well alone.
