Am I reading this right? Your supercharger is dumping all boost?

Sorry Tommy, that sucks about the tune. But, I really had to at the statement "I swear, on my next car, I'm not modding nothing." You know how many car guys I hear say that? It never lasts long though

Yeah, I've already told myself that I could never stick to that kind of statement.

Told OE about the problem, and am going to take the car a week from today to my local indy to double check things. The P0410 came back on yesterday. Can't worry about these things now, gonna move on to enjoying the holidays and rejoice in the fact that Tim Tebow didn't win on Sunday. Praise be to God.

And, on a happier note, my Autopower race rollbar came in for my crx yesterday, and found a set of rims that will work with my big brake set up; Team Dynamics 1.2's in bronze will clear the Wilwoods - they stick out much more than stock. So at least one car is moving forward.

I think there's a point with these cars, where there
just isn't anything else to that can be done performance wise.
Once you've done pulley, headers and exhaust, + removing
intake screens and supercharger muffler, the only thing left is to port the supercharger.

Funny thing, my car has had all those things except porting, and almost looks stock, he he.
Chipping always kind of scared me, no one has ever been able to show any real gains except by moving the RPM limiter up a bit.

Supposedly cams were offered at one point but never heard of anyone installing them.

That being said, check out Subby on benzworld.
His R170 SLK from the 80's with M111 came with a M62 Supercharger, which is what they were fitting back then.
He had the supercharger ported, fitted a smaller pulley, AND put
a larger crankshaft pulley + a few other things.
Too bad he hasn't done a dyno.

That would be an interesting Coupey mod, finding all the parts from an SLK to put a ported M62 Eaton blower on there. Probably wouldn't pass smog. And you'd need to transfer all the electronics probably.

I think I'll just concentrate on the CRX from now on. OBD0 is much easier! Rollbar will be delivered tomorrow, then I'll get to pick out what color I want to powdercoat it - much more fun that dealing with annoying 4-digit error codes.

So, as a late Xmas present to me, my car decided to work perfectly this morning. I gunned it getting on the main road from a semi-scary blind merge, and I actually saw my boost gauge needle move.

So right now instead of the normal 7.5 reading, I'm getting just a tick under 10 under WOT. I was trying to baby it because of the previous CEL, but couldn't help myself after a stop to get some toner (seems like one color runs out just after it sees another get replaced), and I gave it the juice. The tune really made the car feel a lot more lively, now that the SC is stepping up to the plate. I really liked the way the car felt.

Car's still going to go to my indy tomorrow, as something I'm sure is still wrong; these things don't just fix themselves. OE suggested the PCV valve, which seems to make sense to a novice (ie, me). But I'm glad that the tune's not the culprit somehow, and am very happy with the improvement, at least in 15 minutes of driving the car working properly. If a fix for the sc not working can be found, I'll be tickled pink. And then, maybe I'll figure out what to mod next.

Oh, I remember those Impala's I got as dealer loaners

Glad your tune is OK, and hope your indy finds a cheap and easy fix.

I got it back yesterday. They went through everything they knew of, couldn't find anything, and then just replaced the "switch over valve" because it's cheap ($45) and it's possibly sticking. So $200 plus the Impala for two days later, and I'm crossing my fingers for a while till I figure it's behind me.

Other than this hiccup, I'm very happy with the tune. Next up today - a drive to a local shop that just expanded to a larger facility to see about some electronics I've had sitting around here too long uninstalled. And today driving to the powdercoaters to drop off the crx's rollbar - going to get something different done instead of just a simple one-color powdercoat, will decide when I see samples later today. Happy new year's to all.

I have been reading this thread from page 1 to 8 in the last few hours of my work haha. And I'm sorry that your car has been having so much trouble, has it always been like this? I got mine in April of 2011 with 125k, now has 139k, 6 speed, gotten differential, manual tranny, engine, and brake fluid all replaced or flushed by me with redline oils and super blue brake fluid. Just drove it down to LA and back. Runs amazing. I love this car. But I just broke my shift knob clips trying to reattach it to the half circle thing (yes I got c7 package) so I am now waiting for a black spherical räzo shift knob from eBay to come in soon and figure out a way to stick that thing on haha. But I haven't had any problem with my car. Everything is perfect, biggest problem I have the vinyl on my rear tiny window is faded haha just gotta get it revinyled. But this seems like an introduction from me, what I meant to say is that I love your car and all the mods you've done to it, including the shift boot ring thing that looks strangely nice but idk why haha. Also, I probably didn't need to introduce myself since you've chimed in on my thread when I posted it laugh out loud. Can you please tell me about your switch center panel? Seems like an interesting mod, especially since I scratched mine somehow and my OCD *** hates it so much haha

Glad your coupe is doing well, both of you.
Me Just turned 182K ! Running great.
Just put new COPPER plugs in not Iridiums, based on Subby's info on
benzworld, 2 steps cooler. NGK IX Iridium just sucks. Always misfiring under WOT. I'm tired of blowing coil packs.

Max here has performed every possible mod in record time, well he hasn't changed his lights or brakes yet.

Max be sure all those redline products you used are APPROVED.
Call Redline tech dept. to be sure.

Cool

Smurfman, so how is it different?
(Ha, like a chick who says 'you know, it's the same, but different!')

BTW, what IS up with the smurf thing, I mean obviously I like blue, but
wow you REALLY like blue. Did you get a Carlson pulley so it would be blue for an extra 2
grand?
You're the only guy here who hasn't changed avatars for 10 years.

Laugh out loud got aftermarket seats in and a brand new sub thanks to Michael Kuzni. And I made a mistake by going with aftermarket pads and rotors so now I'm grinding them down as fast as possible to get on that c32 hype haha. And I was about to get on those lights but upgraded again to a front H&R bar and Christmas came so I had to blow my money. Haha get my woman uggs, my mom wants a super fancy DSLR camera that she won't know how to use. And I had to go to Disneyland with the female for 4 days. So I'm broke haha. Oh and I need to buy books for the upcoming quarter

NEIN!! They're just for cosmetics. Having all of those empy buttons staring at me in the face every day just irked me finally to the point where I had to do something about it. Wish it were like the Mach 5's steering wheel and had really cool features, though. If you really want a panel, I think I still have one identical to the one in the pic hanging around - just pay shipping, and it's yours. I think that the shop that installed it (while doing all kinds of rust repair unfortunately) had to gut out the plastic behind the buttons that weren't operational like the heated seats, rear blind, oil slick, smoke screen, autopilot, happy ending, and homing pigeon buttons...

Yeah, my car's been very problematic over the years, but I have had pretty trouble-free since this past spring's gauging. I wish I could have switched after a couple of years to something more reliable, but there you have it.

My avatar will never die!! I actually do wish that I had done something a bit more contrasting with some of the stuff I've put on, but I was convinced by my gf at the time to do the blue interior leather, and I just had to continue with it from there. That's why I did the brake calipers in gold, at least that's something different.

OK, so like I said, the boost at WOT has increased from 7.5 psi to just under 10. That really helps down in the rev range, when I'm too lazy to downshift. I never take the car into three-digit territory, so I don't know or care if they removed the speed limiter - since I didn't ask for it, I doubt they f'ed with it. The car's much more alive in 2nd and 3rd gears, that's where I feel it the most. Great for Joisey merges. I'll get a dyno this spring when the summer tires are on. In the meantime, butt dyno has said that I yielded some good results.

Your Razo knob will probably come with set screws that you put at the bottom (if it's got threading, you're screwed). What I did for my Sparco was to take a bit of masking tape and tape up the shift rod, so that the set screws have a bit more to bite into. Just a thought.

I'll be in SoCal, driving to SF, in early March. You guys need to have a regional meet when I'm there.

With the shift knob, I WILL make it work!!! Even if I cut off the upper rectangular part and drill a hole through the spherical part to make it work!!! Yes I realize I can drill a hole through the rectangular part, but it will look cooler sitting low haha. And I'd love that panel, but why ship it when I can grab it from you when you come to the golden state I live like 20 minutes south of San Francisco.

By regional meet with coupes, I could only think of coupe crazy down in San Diego, me and Todd and a guy named Huy up in this area.

Yes, I still have both steering wheels - people here seem to be too much of a bunch of tighwads to buy them.

That knob is a screw-on type - good look trying to frankenstein things to work.

Haha I hope frankensteining it shouldn't be too hard since I frankensteined my aftermarket seats into my car haha. Saved me 700 bucks laugh out loud. I also bit the bullet and bought Projector headlights and fog lights off eBay, as well as clear and grey tint and GE silicone II because I know I just bought eBay lights and the repercussions are leaks and glass fade so I will cover the lens in clear vinyl to avoid that ugly fade and will put on an extra seal to avoid any issues I hope this Frankenstein project will be A okay haha

Yeah, let us all know where you're going to be in town.
I'm south of Mr. Mehoff in San Jose.
I helped him put on his pulley. So we've met once.
Sorry no garage anymore, kept the car, sold the blonde, and moved on.
