Rear Noise, but NOT wheelbearing
I have a 2005 C350, and have had this noise that sounded like a wheelbearing. The MB techies and my friendly mechanic agreed that it was the wheelbearing.
I had both rear wheel-bearings replaced today, and much to my dissappointment, the sound is still there!
I changed the tires as well and the sound still remains The vibrations from this are quite heavy, and get louder with speed. I can hear it at low speed too. I remember that I went over a pothole maybe 2-3 years ago, which burst a tire, and may have affected the suspension (I have also had to replace the entire front suspension).
I'm not sure what could be wrong here, can anyone point me in the right direction? My next guess is to take it to an alignment place (even though the tire guys have aligned it when I bought the new tires).
Drive shaft flex discs do wear out and can cause the vibrations.
Any other work done on/around drive shaft/differentials?
(time to find a new mech I guess).

Now to fit the oxygen sensors (costs about $850 in South Africa).
