Well i am 5 years younger then you. Other then that Audis being too plain is a matter of opinion i guess, as well as the interior. I know that the interior of the audi and the exterior gets very high marks from a lot of car magazines.

Other then that i agree with you abou the infiniti which is why i do not want the G35 Sedan. You're right the 3 pointed star will get me more attention, but that isn't what im really looking for. I guess the attention is a good thing but however comparing the the engine of the 3.0 and the c230 audi has a faster car. Excluding opinions about the c230 and 3.0 as i think they both look good exterior and interior, that is where i am having trouble with.

Yes, if i wanted the better value i would have already chosen the 3.0. But it's more then that of course as the 3 pointed star offers something that the audi doesn't or most cars. So this is where i am stuck at. Is that something more worth getting something over a car that i like with a better engine?

Whatever you do don't get a black car unless you plan on washing it alot. I wash my black coupe once a week unless I have the car cover on it and I wax is one a month. I don't think I could be more careful with it but still somehow it gets little scratches on it. Get a white one and never look back.

Isn't a white one worse? I was planning a black mercedes or a silver/black audi.

if your buying a mercedes benz you should either black or silver.

i bought silver and i have not washed in 2 montths and it still looks clean. and I have never cleaned the interior(its black and still clean) and ive had it for about 5 months, 3700 miles

silver on black is the way to go

and about audi- you should black or greyish color

A4s has those uglyass side moldings on there cars

I agree that Black or Silver is the way to go in a Mercedes, I'm just saying you'll be spending alot of time trying to keep a black car clean. Black looks terrible when it's dirty. My friend has a silver old A4 and it never looks dirty. I said white because it's easy to match if you ever get in an accident and it won't fade. Not that silver would fade either.

Are the metallic paints more expensive to match then normal colors? Like black vs Black opal Metallic?

OK, I am confused, you say you're not after the attention the MB logo gets, but the 3-point star offers more than the Audi namebrand... so I'm confused... if its not attention, then what is it that the 3-point star means to you? Respect? Status? ect... they are all forms of attention, good and bad.

I still think the interior in the A4 is ugly, look at the cup holders in the centre console, completely useless if you buy a manual. Plus the dash/centre console looks like something out of Star Trek. too many "plain" buttons crammed together without much style or organization.

Lastly, judging your opinion on car mags is a waste of time. The BMW always wins in car mags (until recently) because editors are completely biased on performance. They don't realise that 95-99% of your time is spent doing daily driving. They also put way too much emphasis on 0-60 times, which with a lot of the new 6-speeds coming out, will be totally useless as the close-ratio gearboxes are designed for speeds to 130+ mph and aren't geared to get you to 60 fastest... car companies like BMW typically offer manuals with taller 1st and 2nd gears to allow only 1 shift on 0-60 times so they can post lower numbers.... this is a great marketing strategy, but actually poor engineering.

Do you really want to base your opinions on peole who rate the high speed performance and cornering ability of SUVs! I hope not.

If I was 19, and listened to a lot of hip hop and was at the clubs, I'd be buying the Benz or a Caddy... maybe a Jag... cause have you ever heard in a song or seen in a video your fav singer/rapper cruising in a BMW or Audi? If you're buying it to have fun driving, and impress your friends, family, and of course, the ladies, nothing beats the Benz.

Ummm not exactly what I meant. Again, without trying to be rude, this is just what I have noticed typically, ok, no flames!

The typical male BMW driver to me is sleazy, greazy, slimey, ect... The guys I have met that are BMW drivers I would compare to the awful car salesman you all hate. They are the typical playas in the bar that turn women off, or they are the rude business men you don't want to deal with.

I'll repeat, I'm trying not to be rude by saying that, just this is the type I am familiar with, there's probably little to no truth in my observations, but they are my observations none-the-less.

I don't think it costs more to match metallic paints but I'm not positive. The issue is that it may not perfectly match your original paint. This could be the case with almost any color whether metallic or not but yes I believe it's harder to match, expecially with silver. the dark metallic colors are probably just fine.

I'd have to agree that most of the male BWM drivers I see are a little shady and when I test drove a 3 series before getting my car my first impression of the salesman was this guys is a total snob. I would also haev to agree with whoever said that Mercedes drivers have a little attitude as well. I think more than anything people pay attention and look out for how people act when they are in a particular car. Where I live just about every mom drives a Surburban or Excursion and they just poke along under the speed limit on their cells and act surprised when they do something stupid or they're like "woah take it easy" if you get pissed because they just pulled into your lane while they we're calling some other mom with a surburban who is also on their cell. There are also alot of rednecks around me and they all have the typical trucks that are loud, lifted and really junky and old. I pretty much know exactly what they are going to do at every stoplight. Look at me like I'm some sort of weirdo in the Euro looking car and then attempt to peel out and burn a few gallons trying to be the first one away from the lights. These are examples of sterotypes I have for the kinds of cars that I see. I'm sure most of these people are not that differnt than me but I just look out for them and watch what they do. I think theres just something about a dude in a truck that makes him look a little dirtier or a mom on a cell with a kid who makes her look a little more unaware of whats going on, just as some 22 yr. old in a Benz with sunglasses on makes them think I'm full of myself. Don't worry about everybodys opinions because as they say opinions are like *******s...everybody has them and most of them stink.

I am not all out for attention. However you are right in that Benz does offer attention and that to me may make up for the fact that its lacking in engine compared to the audi 3.0. I guess the benz feels more secure to me just thinking about it also. Seeming that i see a lot of Benz then audis.

And you are 100% correct about the music videos. I was actually cracking up since it's a fact. Yea they all drive Benzs. Maybe a BMW rarely but mostly all Benz and no audis.

However being in LA a lot quite a few people drive luxury cars. Better yet almost everyone drives a BMW or a Benz. Sometimes the M classes (BMW) and also the S classes (Benz). Hell people in my age too. Driving a c230 sedan will not get that much attention. This being a mercedes forum and on i guess mercedes is that of a great choice. And i guess i still want the mercedes more, but the value side in me is stopping me.

Ah LA, I see your point, you're competing in a territory I know nothing about since Luxury cars are a little on the rare side in Ottawa. Actually I think there are only 2-3 Lambos and a handful of Ferraris in this city... if it ever gets nice enough outside to drive them! So me being 24, driving a Benz, with Senators flags on the windows, I get noticed.

GO SENS GO!
