If you haven't seen the video of the BMW that caught fire in Atlanta in the snow/ice... Just makes everyone here look so bright.

Yeah I saw that...a lot of stupid stuff going on out there. I actually got stuck on 285 with the wife, it was so bad I jumped off at Paces Ferry and checked in the hotel Sunday.
People don't seem to get it about driving on ice...

Out Of Control!!
Is the "snow" part of the equation necessary?
It could be faulty wiring from a owner putting in a system or alarm or something.. Or perhaps a factory error. My benz is safe in my backyard not going anywhere.

My Benz has been out in the weather twice. We were actually caught out in it when it hit. It was very... interesting. Myself and three or four other cars were following a police Crown Vic as we tried going up a grade in town. The Benz ended up passing the cop car (that was fishtailing and bouncing off the curb) and the other motorists. I had to use the ESP off button on the dash to allow wheel spin, though. I'm running very worn out General Exclaim tires on back. We were sideways quite a bit, ESP giving all it had but not having much to work with at all. Two separate times ESP cut power completely and we sat dead still, 50% throttle, tires not even spinning.. /!\ light flashing away as if to say we were defeated. Eventually, we made it home.

The Crown Vic without chains can be a handful sometimes on slick roads, especially if the rears are less than half tread. Combine that with most cops being a bit punchy on the throttle and you get that.Originally Posted by LILBENZ230

We got tired of waiting for snow and drove toward Atlanta to find it and then were in it on the way back to the house Sunday night. Pretty, and the Coupe was sure footed as it could be. By today the only problems are idiots that won't slow down because the roads look good. Then they top a rise and oops, the ride is on.

Oh yes they do. I had someone tell me once, they wouldn't take the Benz out because of the snow (back when I had driven a 190 to work because snow was expected). I pointed out that Germany tends to get more than Atlanta, and that they just might expect their cars to be driven in it. Originally Posted by Javvy

I believe that the reporter knows absolutely nothing. Has he never seen burnout contests where people spin the rear wheels on dry pavement for what seems like forever?! And how are you that stupid to floor the car going down hill?
Somethin' smells.
Somethin' smells.
I didn't drive in it Monday or Tuesday, but I finally went into work this morning. The Benz stayed in the garage. I wouldn't even think of driving my car in this crap. I think it would be a small hand full because of the power, but I would be more worried about all the idiots that have never driven on ice in their lives and thinking they can drive on it with bald tires. I ended up having no problems, but one of my friends said he almost got smacked in the back because some idiot locked up his brakes instead of being light with them.

No kid gloves with my Benz.. It's a lot tougher than you'd think.

I just saw a newer GM van catch fire outside my house the same way like that bmw, but the fire was mostly in the front engine compartment are but eventually it took over half the van by the time the fire truck came. It was pretty exciting to watch
. But im not so sure the car caught on fire based on the heat from the tires burning out? I mean I've seen burnouts where tires are melted and pop and they dont start fires.. Probably a short somewhere...
