this might sound dumb but i don't know crap about my auto tranny. When i use the manual mode on my auto.. it lags like no other. Would the tune also help with the lag or is there another reason why it lags.
according to the post right above tours, yet it will fix the lag issues.

Nobody has really commented on reliability after the mod...

I'd LOVE to get 18 more horses outta my 05 230k 6mt, only I'm a bit weary that doing this mod at 70k miles might overstress the engine. My car is basically stock engine and suspension wise, and I don't really plan on Modding it much more, just because I like it the way it is, and I got lots of other toys to invest in... soooo: Sell me man. Is there any chance of increasing wear and tear (other than increased desire to drive it harder)?

Does this tune not only increase hp but also improve reliability?, gas mileage? I seriously rarely drive it hard but I'd like some piece of mind. I still owe money on it and look forward to keeping it for at least a couple more years so I want to make sure that I keep it reliable.

Also, anyone in the Northern Oregon, Southern Washington area/s wanna go in on the cable? Seems like its alot of work for Jerry to be sending out hundreds of cables all over the country... And trusting Ace Ventura to handle my $2500 computer chip is completely outta the question...

Anytime you modify an engine for performance, you will decrease overall longevity in a respective amount. Seeing as you have a stock motor, this tune will make a negligible impact on the engine's life and dependability, and even then, only over a very long duration of time. Engines are all about compromise... the more you mod it, the further you take it outside the design's comfort zone, and therefore the less you can expect it to behave like a factory motor. There is no free lunch, so you have to determine if the risk is worth the reward.

EC tune will not harm your engine, but as you stated, you'll keep your foot in it more often to feel the results. Your driving habits will dictate whether any modification will decrease longevity of parts.

All that being said, get the tune. You're nowhere near the level that will take a huge bite out of your reliability. EC tunes are well within safe parameters of the engine's comfort zone.

Buy, and enjoy.

How about fuel mileage? If i drive it easy like normal, can I still expect 30+ mpg on the highway?

Typically it improves as the cars run pig rich from the factory. Then again, after a tune you typlically are on the throttle more...

Too many variables for me to take a stab on that one...

I don't see any reason why the mileage would suffer more than 1mpg, as long as you're not in it...

Anyone else in So. Cal interested in doing this with the cable???

I'd really like to do this, but can't be w/o the car and also $165 is about my limit.

Or, anyone willing to lend me their cable? I will pay for shipping both ways.

Thanks alot.

Henry
