Fellow W203 Owners your brother needs some help
The Best of Mercedes & AMG
well, good luck. at least you have a positive attitude. youre going to need one throughout this ordeal.
keep us updated, esp w/ how much $ it takes and what gets replaced.
how much for the engine? is it a full long block w/ s/c and ecu?
Interior cluster and put it in my C240 if it fits tan on black with updated radio o.O sounds weird but it might look good idk *kanye shrug* just a hay say. Its all in the air now still thinking about it. But if I do buy it and part it out what's a list of things I can sell that has some worth.
Really wish you had heeded the advice here, but to be honest you're a lot like the others on here. They've made up their mind well before they ask opinions. Let me guess, the little old man only drove it to church on Sunday? The church was a very long way away, mind you. That's BS. And the suspension probably will not properly recover from 150k miles then being weighed down like that.. but it's no matter, that car is going to be a nightmare.

Just make a thread for the whole process because I think it will be interesting to see something like this
.
"talking down the dealer" a grand to 4k? He probably listed it at 5 so that someone would try an offer 4. Im afraid that you surely didn't try hard enough my friend. You'll be lucky if the grand you "saved" buys a portion of the rear suspension. Still confused, but also still interested to know more. It may be cheaper for you, unless you by all used parts, to replace everything by delving into the aftermarket.
If you're still reading, OP, just FYI - I think the ECU must match the VIN, the cluster, so the 150k on the guage in the car is there to stay; just as others have eluded to.
I'm not sure if the ECU is going to need some custom reprogramming to accept another engine if it's a direct replacement or not? Anyone know?
If you want to shock us, you'll purchase a commercially available modified exhaust manifold (forgot where? do a search?) that allows for a turbocharger. With the amount of money you will probably be spending, unless you shock us all with some crazy finds, you might as well attempt that. Shock us more and run the turbo alongside the supercharger

Anyway. I still think it's crazy to have not found a nice 05. Someone just reported in another thread they bought theirs recently for $11-some? So, add the disclosed cost of your engine to your already invested 4, and I hope you don't cry when compared to $11k.
That said, I'll still be watching!
Anywho i'm glad for your input, it's really appreciated. As of the motor being dropped in it it's gonna take some time. The ECU i believe i talked to some MB certified mechanics already and they said it's not something to dwell on cause the computer runs the engine not the engine running the computer.... So we'll see how it goes tomorrow i'll post pictures of my C240 it's bone stock with tints nothing special.
