My cam sensors have leaked to the point where i need to do my wiring harness. just wondering who has the most miles on their 1.8l kompressor so i know if its worth my while doing it, and also wondering if anyone has done the wiring harness and has DIY instructions

Hello I have 170,xxx on my 03 230k.I don't think I have the highest mileage car here.It still drives good. I have been avg about 25mpg, need to change fuel filter. I have had problems most coverage under warranty. I just spent about $1200 on front control arms an other suspension items I had the cams wiring replaced under recall. I had the car since about 25,000 miles on an I still enjoy it. I just wish it had about 60 more hp

^ There's a cam sensor recall for Canada. I had mine done in 2008 or 2009. Search around the W203 forum.

do you happen to have the work order with the recall #? because ive been to the dealer and also called MB Canada, both to no avail. are you sure you didnt get it done under warranty?

the recall you are talking about was for a pipe that was part of the supercharger that cracks over time. MB only recognized the recall for the Cam Solenoids/Adjustors over the last year in the US and recently in South Africa. MB Canada are keeping their lips closed on this defective item. The cam position sensors are a different item and are in a different place in the motor and are not causing any problems, the item in question are actually magnets that get actuated to adjust the cam timing and are located at the front of the motor.

I think that the only option we have here is a class action suit for repair of the item

It looks like I had mine done under warranty. The good news though is that you can buy and DIY this one quite easily with nothing more than a socket set.

Here are the part numbers used, and their prices on RMEuropean:
271-051-01-77 x2 Magnet $46.34 each
002-997-57-90 x2 Cable tie $0.26 each
271-051-00-32 x2 Cover $2.46 each
271-150-27-33 x2 Starter line (Camshaft Adjuster Magnet Harness) $33.12

So it looks like you'll be set back $164.36 if you buy these parts online. I Good luck.

Ya im already in the process of that, problem is oil is in the harness so who knows if it will wreck the ecu, im going to try n spray all the oil out every few days. keep me posted on the class action suit for canada., im in
