2007 C230 Transmission Service
My friend just bought a C230 just like mine but in silver with black. I told him that he needs to get the transmission serviced every 40K. He bought the car with 39K miles on it. Is there a light that tells you that the transmission needs to be serviced or SERVICE B is neccessary? Here is the car fax
http://www.carfax.com/VehicleHistory...&partner=CDM_U
At 37,000 Miles it states that maintance inspected etc etc. and at 33K tranmssion was checked.. but doesnt mention anything about tranmission fluid change or service? I hope they changed it... but he doesnt want to spend 250 dollars for a service that was done 3k miles ago

Maybe I can't read Carfax, but its letter shows that basic maintenance was neglected (no oil & filter change since 2007, no brake or brake fluid service, no ATF r&r...).
I'd not let the car decay further.![drive](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/driving.gif)

I'm glad to hear this 39k interval on the Trans fluid is not b.s. I rolled into the dealer today for a Service A at 39500 miles and the SA told me "we recommend a Trans fluid flush at 39k miles. I thought it was oddly convenient that I was at exactly that mileage! --- but a little research shows me he is correct. Even at $350 it seems like cheap insurance if you plan to own the car for the long run. I have owned this 2006 since new and really zero problems with it - that 7 speed automagic scares the crap out of me really.....so I will maintain it!

Your friend might be able to call the Benz dealer in NY (Sovereign) and ask them if the service has been performed. They might be forthcoming, they might not. Chances are, it hasn't been done. As far as being neglected, I'm sure the 'maintenance inspection' listed by the MB dealer was a Service A or B. The car fax never lists everything that was done at a dealer.

VMI (Vehicle Master Inquiry) shows all the service records including recalls, maintenance, and repairs. If you have good relationship with your local MB dealer/SA, they will print a copy and give it to you - or at least allow you to look at their computer screen with VMI details.

I have the same car (2007 C230) and I bought it about 1yr 1/2 ago. I did not look for specifics as it is discussed on here since it was my first new car and was just happy to get it.
Right now I am at 78333 miles and all I have done is the A and B Service but never that I know of done Transmission fluid flush.
I take mine to a Foreign Car mechanic shop to get mine serviced and not the dealership....I just dont have the money.
How much does that cost at the dealership?
Is there something you're suppose to do with the timing belt every so often? I overheard something to that effect a few days ago.
Anything else I may have missed or need thats suppose to be done? If I remember right I got it a 36000 miles!

BTW, our cars do not have timing belts. They are completely chain/gear driven. There is a serpentine belt that drives your the accessories (power steering/AC/emissions/alternator). It should be replaced periodically. I think MB calls it a 'poly v-belt' instead of serpentine.
The manual doesn't specify an interval and I'm not sure what is recommended among the owners here. Perhaps someone will chime in.

'poly v-belt' May be what I heard! but just not sure!
Now I would like to ask: What is the "2nd Tranny"....what does that consist of? If you're talking about Services, I have done the A and B

2nd tranny service - i.e every 39K miles
Fluid & filter change, clean magnetic pickup. Replace gaskets & pan bolts.

7G = 7G transmission by Mercedes Benz; it's a 7 speed automatic transmission.
The cost of transmission service varies based on the place where you get it serviced. Please call your local MB dealer and local independent mechanics. You will have an idea.
clarification about '2nd tranny service' -
Members are suggesting the first transmission service be done at 39,000 miles and the SECOND TRANSMISSION SERVICE be done at 78,000 miles.
