Clock and trip meter resetting themselves

Clock and trip meter resetting themselves
I just picked up my '01 C200 komp the other day and noticed that every time i turn the car off and then back on, the clock resets itself to 1200 and the trip meter resets to 0. can anyone explain this to me. I tried to go by my local MB dealer, but there were no service people in on Sundays. Thanks.
