so my 320 is up for its first smog test...living the encino area i drive by about 10000 smog places a day but ive heard alot of these are shady....theres no way i would take my euro 500sel to them...

but for the 320, what kinda things should i look for, am i better off going to orange county, ill be there on the weekend.

what kinda things can cause a failure on these cars.

ive done basic service, never had any major issues, except when i flooded the first engine and had to have it replaced...but besides that...

If it is anything like va test they really dont do much check that you are not having any engine codes and check the gas cap seal. So if you don't have a cel you will pretty much pass in va.

Same in Metro ATL. They just hook up the OBDII port and check for fault codes and readiness (to make sure you didn't just pull the battery before coming). Some places will look under with a mirror to make sure you still have the Cats. Gas cap check is also part of it. You shouldn't have to worry, unless you've have a CEL (or have had one very recently).

you guys are lucky

here in ontario canada they do a dyno test NO obd2 hookup

for a 4matic they do a 2 speed idel test

of course last year my 4matic ran so clean ive no worries

ok yeah nothing really going on with the car...its ok

If your car is clear of errors you should pass with flying colors. At least i did the lady couldn't understand why my car needed to be smoged. She didn't even look under my hood.
