Climatronic Control Question

I want to change my analog climatronic control (02 85) to digital control (09 85), does it require to have some work on DAS ?

If you get the correct one it's just plug and play. Don't do it, I get so many loaners with this feature that doesn't work, buttons get stuck. I think if I had a C320 I would go to the C230/C240 style for ease of use and reliability.

My friend & I also got a '01 C240, he swapped out his 02 85 to a 09 85 & find out seems the cold air is a bit cooler than before even for the same temperature set as analog button previously (according to the printed termperature on the panel). Would the digital actually make a difference on the temperature sensor?

It's just a switch, can't imagine it making a temp difference. Mine blows cold enough, even in desert temps of 110F + with the standard controls. Maybe there was something wrong with his original unit.

There is no DAS mod required if you get the correct unit.

I agree that the buttons sometimes 'stick' and there is a trick to hit the buttons without getting stuck. This does require you to not allow any passangers to touch the controls.

I paid only $75 for my unit, I know its not worth $200+ even if it looks better.

For me, I usually leave it on one temp all day long, so all I hit is 'auto' or turn the speed to 'off'. If your the type that changes the temp all the time, stay away, its not worth it for the look.

no...it only requires some luck with your car...either the car excepts the controls or doesn't...(meaning that you only get hot air...cold air...only air through the lower vents...)

Button trick tifosiv122?

"I agree that the buttons sometimes 'stick' and there is a trick to hit the buttons without getting stuck."

What's the 'trick'? I've had one button stick about two years ago and I lightly tapped it to release it.

I tap in a direction, either up or down depending on how it gets stuck...its hard to describe, you just gotta do it.

i find it strange because my analog climate control unit has the 02 part #, but many have posted that the new digital climatronic has 02 part #. how can two different parts have the same #. and yes, im 150% sure that my analog unit is #203-830-02-85.
