Alternator install by Indy. Good price?????
So I took my car to a Indy shop to have my alternator replaced since I was having voltage issues. I paid 600 and some change to get it done. Is this a fair price for part plus labor? Or does that seem high? I know it would have been about half that if i just did it myself 
I'm just not that mechanically inclined....So I just took it to them....

typically a rebuilt alt runs around $270, traditional cars to re&re the alternator is not a difficult job and usually takes about 1/2 hr. I would say that the price you paid was neither a bargain or a rip-off, though I tend to think that it was leaning toward the high side.
Unfortunately our car with the M271 engine is a more arduous process which involves removing the wideband silencer, removing the serpentine belt to get at the alternator which is buried deep in the car, it is a fiddly job and not straight forward as it is really a pain in the a** to do it. I recently did mine and it took me plenty of time to get the job done and I am very mechanically inclined with lots of experience working on cars. It is a job that I would not look forward to doing again.
Technically not a difficult job but poor accessibility and really awkward to get to. You do need an array of tools to do it
T60 socket
E10 and E12 Socket
1.5" extension
and an array of wobbly extensions to make it easier
in addition to a standard set of sockets and box wrenches

Did mine, $150 to rebuild the alternator,
Zero labor.
Just did my GF's 'vette the other day.
$25 to replace the burnt diodes.
Didn't need a full rebuild.
Labor= $0.
$600 isn't too bad.
I've seen people get ripped for
$1500 for an alternator.
One born every day.
