No ones really done a dyno on it, I'd just get some green filters or K&N filters. The ribs supposedly restrict the airflow so removing them just makes it smoother. Kind of like the rubber intake hoses that come on cars aren't smooth when you look inside them.

2006 C230, 2006 BMW M3, bye bye C55:(
Yea, I've got some K&N's in there currently and have always seen the ridges/fins but never thought it really had an effect on the airflow.

Have you done it?

I've done it, I would have never wasted my time with it. When I did mine I would take off the housing every week and saw little black plastic pieces on the throttle body mesh. I used a dremel maybe that's why. But still keep an eye on it.

It's not a noticeable difference in power (lucky if it even is). Track tested..no difference.

havent done it myself the filter flows good enough IMHO. I'm about to buy some 3" silicone hose to replace the mesh tubing from the ram shroud to the engine cover. That mesh is probably getting heat soak from being right by the engine plus the hose will provide a little bit of smoother flow.

Like John said, stoplight to stoplight there can be a lot of variables. C320 owners should not pick fights with CLS500s based on this thread, though, or a loss (a big one) is in order.

honestly i didn't have a job for a while. So i don't have any high tech phone or anything. I went to my job interview today at Toyota had my first interview at 8 second interview at 8 40 third interview at 9 20 and got the JOB =DDD im so happy now =))

Time for a new car soon AMG anybody?????

I love how everyone keeps saying i didn't beat it or it wasn't trying??

I know what happened i was there. My girl was there for the second race. They both were trying. He wouldn't have rolled down his window to ask about my car.

Wavey your C320 is maintained like mine is. I service my car more then 3 cars should be serviced in there lifetime.

Gutting the air box was not only removing the bottom fins. There are top fins. And fins inside the middle of the air box that are extremely hard to remove.

If anyone has a CLS or a S500 I will prove it to you =)
Anyone else's c320 chirps when shifting first to second?

C320 and the CLS500 have different gear ratios different rear difs etc i heard his car rev really high so i know he was trying

After i did mine. I washed it out with water let it dry. Washed it out again. Let it dry and used an air compressor.

On a drag strip in a controlled environment you will be completely owned by an S500 or CLS500. Best to enjoy your stoplight win against one.

No amount of servicing in the world will give you more power than your car had new, which is significantly less than a CLS500. Yes weight/gearing and that stuff is a factor but that only plays a really big role when the cars are much more comparable.

You coming to MBJunkies meet right? If you are then we'll have a go at it. I'm sure there will be CLS500s there.

I'm telling you I raced a CLS500 and I would say even. As I mentioned before I couldn't pull away from an S500 (I had him but I didn't "smoke" him). So I would say me and the 500s are even. So we'll have a go at it at MBJunkies meet.

See you then.

Matt don't be so generous. I raced a buddies C300 who has similar mods and engine has more power than the C320. I had a late start and I still took him AND THIS IS WHEN I DIDN'T HAVE A TUNE. A CLS500 will demolish a C320 even though the C320's modded or not. He claims to have taken a blacked out one in Dana Point. So his claim couldn't be driver error.

I can't shake off a CLS500 and I can bet everything that a C320 with a gutted airbox and K&Ns can't.

Yeah ill be there. Maybe i shouldn't have said i smoked it. But i did stay ahead by a car. If something else doesn't come knocking on my door. You and i should have some fun too. =) i love racing up to the speed limits. & maybe a little bit passed that lol. Someone put two screws in my front right tire. & happened to be on the side wall which makes it unrepairable. Kinda pissed second tire in two weeks.

Honestly i really did feel a power increase when i changed to those plugs. Maybe cuss it was time for no plugs no idea. Ive had them in for two years and love the difference it made.

Im thinking about second cat delete but i think my car maybe way to loud then. Cops already follow me to gas stations and to my house to harass me.

Lol
My friend was driving his STI home from work last night. A cop followed him back to his house and gave him a window tint ticket in his driveway. I think im going to remove the front tint on my windows today. Not sure fully

These 192/189/215 horsepower W203s had decent power back when they were released a decade ago. Today, they're all slow. The world with 270-274HP Accords, Camrys, and turbo Sonatas and Optimas was a long way off back then. Now you can get Civics with as-near-as-makes-no-difference 200hp.

But Karo you know that anything can happen in stoplight racing. Sometimes you are quicker than the driver and not the car. Your C350, especially in stock form, was lunch meat for a 306hp G35 or 330hp G37 (as was the CLS500 in that video you posted). But there are variables in the real world.

Record your race with him. It's gonna be a bad loss for him.

Yes, I do agree. Alot of variables (late start, a little wheel spin). Reminds me of the 306hp G35 that I went to race at the track. I was beating him because I had better reaction but on the slip he was doing better 1/4 mile times. But I wasn't demolishing him. Just maybe a car ahead by a car I mean his nose was on my bumper.

By the way I'm mad at you. You went to Vegas and didn't stop to say hello in Los Angeles
