OEM Clearn Reflector Retrofit
I was quoted by black flames custom for 540 for labor if I purchase the projectors myself. And quoted 450 from lightwerkz for the same thing. My question is what projectors would be in the oem halogen headlamps?

I've never heard of that company and they don't seem to have done many retrofits. Also the mini morimoto are so easy to install. That price is pretty high for what it is. The mini projectors were designed so that there was an easy way to mount without cutting your existing reflector. All you have to do is open up your lights, remove the bulb sheild and screw them in place with the given retaining ring.
the other companies offer a full retrofit, which requires lots more work, and with a better projector.

Im glad you commented on that. I called up retrosourcellc which was very very helpful by the way. And I told him what I wanted to do and he said the H7 to H1 Mini is a very very easy install. It is like almost plug and play! And once that I have the lense off its a pretty straight forward job. He even send me a picture with what the w203 headlamp looks like when it is done with the E55 shrouds. Im very mechanically inclined when it comes down to doing anything with a car. I was just afraid of screwing up my headlamps. But after talking to retro i feel very confident

alright guys so i finally got the H1 morimoto kit. Like i said before I was going to use my OEM headlamps. My question to you guys is should is to use aluminum tape or not on the projector itself? The shroud does let a little light out to to illuminate the inside of the headlamp. But should I put aluminum tape around the inside and prevent that and only allow the light to come out of the projector

I am looking at the relay harness. And the kit only uses one side for the relay switch and doesnt need to use the other H7 wiring harness... Am i going to run into problems hooking this thing up?

Yes you will run into problems. Don't run the harness. Its not needed. Contact matt at theretrofitsource.com. He'll sell you some pigtail adapters for around 10 bucks. If you run the harness then you will constantly have a bulb out warning.
Also, you can put the aluminum tape on the shroud. That shouldn't be a big deal. But I don't think its necessary. I actually like the slight glow around the shrouds. It shouldn't leak enough light to be bothersome to oncoming drivers, but it will have this glowing effect.

thx for that!! I called them up and got the CANBUS kit and instead of using a relay harness it uses the existing power from the H7 wire to power the ballast

expect more than an hour. Haha if you've done it before it might be an hour, but most of the time will go into the rotational adjustment to make sure its straight. Just be sure you mark the alignment of the original lights beforehand. The best way to do that is to take the reflector out of the housing, and power up the low beam bulbs against the wall. Just make sure that you mark the exact same position of the headlights so that you it matches perfectly.

Lol no i was talking about the bumper and headlamp removal... I know the retrofitting will take awhile. I have two cars so i can take my time with that.. I iust wish oem headlamps without xenon were so expensive..i would just buy a pair and it to them
