Thanks, I'm willing to give this a try, but the part that moves is inside the soft cover (have a r129) and the whole thing is slightly loose. I'm helping it staying put by moving the steering all the way up to the dash.

Yes it's inside the soft cover. The soft cover attaches to a ring that isn't secured properly. Gluing the ring to the shaft works. Once that is secured, simply reattach the soft cover.

My glue method is also way easier than the drill method. Just have to leave the car overnight for the glue to cure.
