New Key

I bought my car almost a year ago and came with 1 key. After fighting with the dealer back and fourth and finnally getting it resolved with the BBB.org. The dealer Audi of Manhatten which is also the owner of Openroad MB ordered me a key and it will be in tommorrow. My question is I know each key mated to the car via the VIN and cannont be reprogrammed etc etc. Im not going to Mercedes to get my key i'm going to AUDI where I bought my car to get the key. Will I have any problems with the key? Will I just pop it in and it will work? Or am i going to have to take the key to my MB dealer and have the car mated to it? He said he had to order it through MB from manufactorer itself

From what I understand ALL keys come from a place in Texas. They are coded to your car only as you know. Normally you would go to the MB dealer where they would want to see your ID and your title or proof of ownership. They then charge you $200 to $300 and your key arrives in a week.
In your case I can only assume the dealer has all of the needed info to order it for you. You should be fine.
I need to get one myself since I purchased mine with only one IR key, not even a steeley inside.

It should work immediately without any programming.

What he said. ^^^
All the programming is done at the Texas location via the info sent to them (VIN#, etc.) by the dealer.
There was a time where you could get keys from other sources but MB put a stop to it making them a "security" related part which under the new policy makes it a dealer item only now. All MB security related parts are now dealer only (EIS, keys, etc.)

I was always told to put the key in, turn it to the first position and let it sit for 1 minute to register.

Worked for me

same with me - got my new ignition last week, and inserted in my second key, let it sit for a couple of minutes, and it was reset.
