OEM Flat Hood Badge Question - I know...
I have searched the forum till my fingers bled. I still cannot find the info I need. I want to replace my upright star on my hood. I am trying to find out if there is an OEM dealer flat badge that fits the C class recessed hood divot. SLK? CLK? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

There should be plenty W204 flat hood emblems on eBay. I got mine on there and it was OEM. They're plastic but they hold up very well. Mine looks brand new still to this day.

Don't get those cheap *** knock off ones that don't even cover the circle crease. Sorry for anyone who has it but I hate those small ones (that's what she said).

Thanks Karo. That looks like it will do nicely. ![thumbs](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/thumbsup.gif)
I really like the other guys custom white stars but I can't seem to pull the trigger on it. I think I will be just as happy with the OEM.
Or maybe this...

Get the w204 one. It snaps in place and it looks great too.

So I ordered a W204 flat badge at the dealer today. While I was there there was an older, maybe 1980 SL in really nice shape being worked on under the hood. While I was waiting at the counter I noticed a commotion & some yelling going on in the shop. I look around and see flames shooting out of the engine compartment of the SL! The guy working on it was just standing there with a glazed look in his eyes yelling while another guy ran over with a fire extinguisher spraying it on the fire and engine. Meanwhile as a cloud of smoke & white dust are flying around the guy just standing there goes "oh, I should shut it off". Ya think! The thing was sucking in the fire extinguisher dust as it was running. I can only assume the owner was not there as nobody came out all pissed off. Glad it wasn't my car. The MB dealer in my city just sucks *****. Many in my area go to an indie that specializes in European autos, problem is he charges as much as the dealer because he can.
That was my excitement for the day.

I didn't ask... they were a little preoccupied. LOL! It looked like maybe it had backfired through the carb or there was some flammable liquid (fuel?) that was ignited by a bad wire? Either way it was burning for quite a few seconds, it was more than just a flare-up thats for sure. There had to be melted stuff in there for sure. I bet that mechanic is gonna be paying for some of that job.

I would go away for life if they burned my car and then let fire extinguishing **** get into the engine. I would at least set the building on fire lol

The car on fire looked like this, but blue, and just as nice. I feel sorry for the owner.
