is this normal?

I was wondering why one of my rear lights (i am guessing it's rear foglight) is brighter (driver side is brighter) than the passenger side

any thought?

thanks

because you only have 1 rear foglight. that's the same way on pretty much any car with foglights.

i've heard that the bright side is supposed to signify which side it's safe to pass on. i have no idea if this is the intended usage.

because two foglights on would look like somebody braking up ahead. the one is just understood as a car present. just a safety issue.

My guess is that it's not symetrical because faster traffic will try to pass you on the left, and this way they can see the left edge of your car in the fog. Can someone from England or one of those other places where they drive on the wrong side of the road please check their car to confirm this?

My brother Lexus IS has two rear fog lights, and looks quite cool when lit up, extremely annoying but :p

rear fog light

It is indeed so that the traffic coming up behind you will see the corner of the car that they are most likely to hit, assuming they are not complete idiots passing in the fog AND on the wrong side!
