C240 sun/moon roof acting up...
I've had my 2002 C240 for about 18 months and now some things are starting to break down. For one the button that brings the rear head rests dont work anymore. Sometimes, the rear sun shade wont even work. And now the sun/moon roof is not working properly. If you hold the sun/moon roof button for 2 secs. its supposed to fully move back or forward depending the direction u press. Well when I do that, it only moves for about a sec. and it stops. It seems like either somethings in the way or there's not enough lubricant. Mind you that this all started after the horrible winter. I'm guessing the cold weather must have done something to it. I looked at the track that the thing runs on and I dont see anything wrong. I know I can bring it to the dealership to get it fixed but It takes a least a month to schedule anything and since I'm not 23 yet, I cant get a loaner (NJ laws). So I would like to fix it on my own if I can. How someone out there has similar problems and can tell me how to fix. Thanx for any help.

I dunno about fixing it yourself. I am having the exact same problem. Just take it to the dealer and have them shuttle you around. Sure it may seem like a burden but it is better than having you roof on your 35K car not working properly. But make sure you tell them EVERYTHING that is wrong w/your car so you don't have to make another trip down there to make them even more profit.

i'm guessing by the headrests meaning that they're power headrests? if they are, you have to resynch the seat. push the button that moves the seat forward, and hold it for 2 more seconds after it reaches its foreward-most position, then push it back to its rear-most position, and again hold for 2 seconds, then return back to middle. through this whole time, the headrest should be adjusting itself based on the seating position. if it doesn't move, then you need to take it to dealer. it was once caused by a loose ground wire, and another time caused by a faulty memory module on my car. good luck.

Thanx Lynn, I re-synchronized it and now it works fine. Now I have to fix the other two problems.
dswildfire, no I'm talking about the rear head rest. There's a button on the console that lowers it so if your reversing, you can see better.

Also, not sure from your follow-up post if you got the seat working or the roof. Anyway, it's not the matter of holding the sunroof button for 2 seconds, but actuating the "one touch" feature by pressing the sunroof switch past the first detent position. You have to press it to the 2nd "click" position.
