UPDATE: got a C32 AMG exhaust installed 2 weeks ago, sounds AWESOME! Working on getting some good sound clips. I tried a few on my phone but the quality is sh&tty.

Also installed drilled and slotted rotors by Disc Italia all the way around. Looks and performs great!

Upcoming soon:

-powder coat wheels black
-CF diffuser
-CF roof

Upcoming a little later on:

-SLK 350 intake manifold
-possibly headers
-possibly throttle body
-searching for a good racing suspension

In the long, long, long term:

-get a 350 engine and transmission, garage them, rebuild with performance parts, when the 230 engine dies, swap it out and also put a racing suspension on it. I figure I would have to spend money on a new car anyway, might as well save the cost of a new car by putting a new engine in a used body. Plus it'll be a fun project.

This guy at the tire shop i go to in Rockville, MD told me about some place that does powder coating around Shady Grove somewhere. I think he said "The Wheel Doctor" or something? I'll ask him again, but I would love to get a discount if we both do our wheels

Cool thanks, I looked some other places and concluded the trim is the same as my 2002 c230 coupe console trim. I really like that shift boot/knob.. definitely looks comfortable to shift, Do you know any places where I can get the 06 c230 sedan shift knob/boot (like yours) for cheap?

Not really sure as I've never had to buy something like that, but I would try going into the classifieds here and searching for something like "shift knob" "shift boot" etc. and see if you can find anything. Otherwise, you could create a post and say what you are looking for and keep bumping it and eventually someone might pop up that has one for sale.

Otherwise, try eBay or Amazon, or just try searching Google. This forum or eBay are your best bets for low prices, though.

Good luck!

Hadn't had a chance to yet...got totally f***ed on my tax return and owed $2k to the gov't so had to chill on mods for a bit.

Also, sorry for the miscommunication, by 350 engine I mean an engine from a C 350, the 3.5 liter m272, not 350Z lol, I can see how you would have thought that though!

I think I have the most exciting update to date! I haven't been on here in a while so trying to get back into it and see what all of you have been up to, but anyway...

Mods will be on hold for the C230 for a little while now because....I just purchased a C55 AMG! 2005 Black on Black with 64k miles, has all the options, navi, heated seats, moonroof, DVD, harmon/kardon, etc. etc.

I figure I'll keep the C230 as a daily driver and turn the C55 into a track beast. I'll be heading to Summit Point, WV July 7th for my first day on a real track, can't wait!

Will be posting some pics of both my cars together after I pick up the C55 this weekend!

My indy mechanic actually was able to get one from a salvage yard somewhere in excellent condition and undamaged. It's a direct fit with the car. Only thing about yours is, do you have the AMG body styling? If you don't have the cut out in the rear bumper for an exhaust tip, then you will have to make modifications to the bumper for it to fit right. Unless you want it to look real ghetto and just poke out below the bumper haha

Have fun at Summit Point I use to go there all the time with my father when he use to race. I miss going up there boy has it changed though in the almost 20 years I have been going there. The new Shenandoah Circuit is also fun I did a driving course on it and had some fun last summer.

BTW congrats on the C55.

Picked the car up and drove it back from Philly Saturday. Washed it up yesterday and took a couple of pics. Will have to get a higher quality camera and take some better ones instead of this iPhone POS, lol

Congrats, nice looking C55. I have no idea why you'd even bother doing anything with the other car now, though; no matter what you do, it'll pale in comparison and take some away from its reliability possibly.

R.I.P. C230

So it's been a while since I've been on here. Been really really busy at work lately and tied up in some other things too.

It's time for the end of one project and the beginning of another. The C55 project is now at the top of my list. I regret to inform everyone that the white C230 has been totaled as of late Saturday night. Accident wasn't my fault and I'm getting a good settlement through insurance, but it's an unfortunate waste of a beautiful car. I took really good care of it and it took me from 49k up through 106k miles before it got wrecked.

It was a 50 mph impact into a 0 mph stationary vehicle, very very hard. Both air bags deployed and it was the scariest experience I've ever been through. Thank god that Mercedes makes such a safe car. Both my passenger and I walked away from the incident unharmed.

I will be starting a thread in the AMG w203 forum soon and start tracking my progress with the C55.

THIS IS WHY YOU SHOULD NOT BUY A HYUNDAI. Guy in the backseat got smashed forward into the driver's seat and broke his leg and had to be taken to the hospital.

Sorry to see. Glad that German engineering did its job - a 50mph crash vs a stationary vehicle is no joke. Who hit who?
