Child seat restraints.
Hi guys,
I live in UK and have just bought a 2005 C55. At the end of the year I am moving to Australia and taking it with me.
In order to import it into Australia it has to meet their safety requirments. I believe the US and Australia use some kind of child restraint system possibly located on the rear shelf. In Uk and Europe we dont have this as we use the ISOFIX system.
Is it possible that someone could tell me how it works and where it is located. Also any pictures would be great.
Hopefully I can order the parts up and fit these myself and save a fortune over having them fitted on arrival in Australia.
Thanks in advance.
Terry

iirc, the US uses LATCH, which is the same as ISOFIX with the addition of a top theter anchor on the top rear shelf. So read up on ISOFIX vs LATCH.

Now that I remember, I think my benz (W203 coupe) had the anchor on the back of the seat... it had collapsible back seats, so the anchor was on the seat itself. You could see it from the trunk.

Sorry man... Go look at your trunk. I just looked on my Euro spec BMW and I have top anchor points for ISOFIX. Reading up on ISOFIX I think it has it as well. Have you looked exhaustively?

I think you need part #A 203 868 14 14. You would need three of them. On USA and Australia cars, they are located just behind the rear head rests and are covered by a plastic cap (#A203 868 00 30). It appears as if they are attached to the parcel shelf by using blind rivets.
I have no idea how you install them though. Probably have to take off the cover for the parcel shelf, etc.

Alternatively, load them somewhere else like Photobucket, and use the Image function (little picture frame button) to link the URL.
Hope this helps!
And Terry, I hope I can crash at your place whenever I visit OZ!

Hopefully that helps. Like, BillBillW posted, there is an attach point behind each of the three rear seat head rests.
I went to the FAQ and figured out how to post images. Pretty easy to do if you ever need to do it in the future.

Hope it works out.
