i had a fried ECU on my car w 41k miles! the stealer was going to gladly replace it for $2150 for part only. i shopped round and found 1 for 1700. then i found a ecu rebuilder in of all places Rogersville(population 40,000) in NE TN 45 minutes from my house,,,, i took my ecu to them and the chief tech told me that they are seeing more and more benz ecus as the maker bosch is cheaping out. now the good news, he replaced to loose ic's w oem parts, bench tested it, and added a heat sink material to dissipate heat from the computer board which apparently is poorly engineered to dissipate heat leading to failures. best part, took 2 1/2 days, 5 yr warranty , runs great ,and i left a pair of Hankook stripes in my driveway. price $ 646
