C240 Modville

I thought I would document my journey with modding of the C240. Mods have been slow to come. So far its been good and bad.

My first mod was getting new wheels. I chose VMR wheels but had to get the centerbore modified to fit. I later discovered that the dust caps were not put on because the wheel would not clear. There are spacers on but they are pretty thin. I found out when I went over a pot hole and the mechanic showed me.

Thanks. After waiting for almost two years due to Steve's busy schedule, I got Bix installed in November 2010. Driving at night is unbelievable! I have a greater feeling of safety. Changes the car dramatically.

Next mod is the C32 AMG air box

The lady needs to be lowered.

1. I'm either going to go with the Koni/Eibach kit

http://www.koni-na.com/fsdeibach.cfm

or

2. A used shock and spring kit off a sport W203.

Accident, $2k in damage.

I was going thru a parking lot for a spot to park and a guy backed into me.

Insurance cut me a check.

It gets worse.

1. I discovered that the car was involved in a previous accident before I bought the car and the paint on the hood is gone in a spot poorly prepped so it need to be redone.

2. Keyed door; a act of vandalism.

3. Fender needs to be redone.

Estimate to redo the whole car is $5k. not doing the fenders, will cost around 3K. It will cost me a grand.

Did this just happen?! That sucks bro. I'd be soooo pissed if anyone put even a small dent on my car.

Thanks man. You have nice ride and the mod fever. I bet that aluminum trim looks nice.

I just bought the c32 air box so I should have installed within the next few weeks.

I have up to two years to do the paint work on the car (see previous post)

I'd want to put the evosport pulley on it and give it a drop.

I have 95,000 miles on it.

The accident happened a couple of months ago.

The keyed door occurred just after the financial crisis took hold. I have to park on the street here.

It's probably wise to move and get secure parking so no one can mess with it at night and then get it repainted.

I am not sure if you have future plans for an audio system but if you run the evosport underdrive pulley kit then your alternator will not run at max performance and your battery will drain with an audio system. Just so you know if you had planned to do an audio system in the future. But honestly, you should save your money on "performance" mods for your vehicle and just work on appearance mods because you will not get much out of the little "performance" mods that are out there for a C240. Good luck modding and repairing your vehicle.

I have heard that. I would like a better audio system for sure but I don't need the "boom boom bang". I wonder if it depends on much you want to use.

MJ50 says the evosport and chip made quite a difference.

I'd use an aftermarket ALPINE or PIONEER head unit and a suitable power amp and well probably upgrade the front speaker with three way and a 10" sub would do it nice.

Oh you will notice a difference but it will still not compare to the other W203 models. It will improve throttle lag and a slight gain in HP but nothing too serious. If your really looking at getting some more HP you can look into a remote mount turbo with a low boost just to give you some more HP but since the C240 engine isnt built with the toughest internals thats why I would stick to low boost, just a thought. Good luck!
