OK, I think I figured out that I shouldn't have removed the four bolts on the caliper and now I have air in the line. It's not leaking but I need to bleed them now.

It sounds like you loosened the bolts that hold the two halfs of the caliper together. That would introduce air into the system. I have heard people say it is dangerous to take the caliper apart, but I have no idea what the problem would be unless the seal (usually a ring) between the two halfs is damaged. I would think that if you just cracked it open, it would be unlikely to damage the seal.

I would bleed it to get the air out and see how it works. I think you'll be fine.

From my understanding once you open the sport caliper you have to rebuild it to get it to work properly again.

I didn't take the caliper apart at all as it never separated, just loosened up the bolts.

I am going to bleed them again tomorrow and see if I can get the air out completely.
