Need some help in NNJ
Hi All,
I recently purchased H&R springs for my 02 coupe but i cant seem to find the correct spring compressor i need for the installation. If anyone has one within the area of northern NJ would it be possible / available for a loan? (only 1 day) or help the installation? - i am willing to provide beers and food if availiable

I can't provide much help but just wanted to say be very very careful. Make sure to get the proper one for the front springs the cheap ones are crap. For the back a floor jack and a brain is all you need. If nothing else take the strut assembly to a local shop and pay them to do it for you. Then you just take it home and a bolt it back up.

Do you have any Autoparts stores near you that loan out tools?
I have found here in Florida that Autozone carries/rents out the right Spring Compressor for our springs.
Advanced and Pepboys also rent out various types of compressors that work but are a little more tedious to work with to get the job done right.
Usually it is about $40 to rent, Bring back the tool and you get your deposit back.

I tried using the Autozone spring compressor when I did my H&R springs and it didn't work. I wound up taking my old struts to a tirerack alkong with the new springs and strut bearings to get installed there.
I was told by a mechanic there that even with their equipment, it was difficult, but they were able to change out everything.

I would prefer to rent the machine as spoken and take to to my local mechanic .... i know its different than a normal spring compressor it looks like a t or something he was telling me. if i cant happen to find that piece does anyone recommend a decent/good shop who can do the work around morris township?
