ESP malfunction visit workshop

i woke up this morning and noticed my passenger front tire was low on air, being late for work, I just drove carefully as to not hurt a rim, figuring I would get air during lunch. but while riding in to work I got a warning about the ESP system. is it possible that being low on tire pressure triggered that alarm? I don't have tpms.
05 c230k ss if that matters. thanks

In theory, I guess that could happen. You can activate a TPMS feature on these cars that use the sensors that also are used by ESP, so obviously a low tire is something that affects the system. But you won't really know until you get the tire properly inflated.

I think that was the problem. I filled the tire back to 51 psi (was about 30) and the warning went away. now I can go back to tire shopping since there is not a bigger problem.
I was curious about the tpms being turned on. is that just go to the dealer and have them turn it on with star? anyone know how much they charge for that?

wow 51 psi for your tires. You should air it to mb recommendation it should be on your door jam where the paint code and other car info is. Usually most tires are aired to ~ 35psi before driving, now for long road trip I'll go up to maybe 45 psi just to get better mpg. Remember if you check your tire pressure after driving for a while it'll be higher then it was before driving so you should always check your tire pressure before driving.

MB's recommendations are just too low. They recommend 28F and 32R but the car is miserable that way in my experience. I run 35 all around right now. But it varies by tire, too.

I understand that 51 is really high. my tires are beat and at 30 the sidewalls are barely holding up. I have been running at 45 to keep my rims off the ground. the specific tire I am speaking of has a slow leak as well, so I'm running that 1 at 51 (tire max pressure) so that I can go more than a week without stopping for air. shopping for tires now, but contemplating rims too. I'll have it fixed in a week or two.
