Replacing driver side frOnt lower rear control arm

Hi, has anybody done this themselves? Seems like it is only attached at two points. Does it come off relatively easily? Anybody have any pictures from under the car to show what it looks like. Thanks

I think the strut needs to be moved aside for the lower front control arm thats pops upwards. I am looking at replacing the rear one which once the nut is taken off, pops downwards. How did you pop out the ball joint once you took the nut off ? Fork seperator and a big hammer ?
Does it need alignment after replacing it? i dont see it changing any adjustments but not really sure. thanks.

Yes, you need to do an alignment afterwords. I would also recommend replacing the other side as well so they both match. I would see if you can find a place that does a free alignment check. Mercedes does say you don't need an alignment after replacing either the arms or the bushings, but I had just the bushings replaced on my old C230 and the whole arms replaced on my C55 and both times my steering wheel was off-center afterwords.

You dont need to remove the strut to remove the lower control arm. It's easier to get to the ball joint nut with the strut disengaged, but it can be done without.

Replacing the upper control arm on the other hand definitely needs the strut to be removed and moved aside.
