Weird Dash Lights???? What for?

I noticed 2 lights in the instrument cluster that light up when I turn the car on and go out. In the manual, it says no function for these lights. It literall says "no function" What are they for then. One has a car chasing another car. Atleast it looks like that. I forgot the other one. If anyone has any idea let me know.

??? Prelude to the 2004 model or something? I don't see these on our 230k, so is it specific to the 320?

Sounds like "Distronic" (cruise control that keeps you a set distance from another vehicle) to me.

I see those lights...I looked in the manual also and saw they were no function lights.

Its an '03 C320

I remember one light was a car right in front of another but as if youre looking from behind one car. The other one was some three lettered one, that I can't remember.

DTR is what it says. Both of the lights are related to Distronic, which is available on the '03 C-class in Europe but not in N.America.

Distronic is a fancy cruise control feature that allows the car to slow down if another car enters a preset distance range. I imagine that one light indicates the system is on (DTR), and the other that a car is within the range and the system is active (two car lights).

They usually hide the radar in the grill, which doesn't look that great in person (IMHO), a little too "plasticy" for me.

Cheers, BT

Yeah, distronice is a neat feature. I would love to have it if I drove on the highway a lot. On cars that have it, it shows the two cars on the MFD with distance between you, and if I remember correctly, they move based on how far you are from the car in front of you. And you can set how far you want to stay from the car in front.

Wow!

I never knew that they offered Distronic for our c classes. Any way to retrofit that thing into our cars. I am currently retrofitting the rear parktronic and the folding outside mirror.

Sorry to dig this thread up from the dead, but I have a question concerning DTR and the 2 cars light. I never noticed these on my 04 C320, but I just got a loaner for a day and they both go on for a few seconds when I start the car. On my car, the lights never come on, even at startup. Is that normal?

yeah its normal on the 04's. I don't think they can be for distronic. They don't offer it in any C class in any country. I checked.
